Yeah, that is a great lookin' Bee! Don't know what the conversion rate is but that sure looks like a good price for it.

Now this is nice

http://classiccars.com/listings/vie...-runner-for-sale-in-st-charles-missouri-63301

Pity its on the wrong side of the Atlantic for me.

The guy that owns the SuperBee has sent me a link to a whole load of pictures

http://s132.photobucket.com/user/cudacamino/library/383BEE/Bronze Bee?sort=3&page=1

There seems to be quite a lot of rust bubbles under the paintwork here and there. Is this anything to worry about or can it be repaired. The interior looks in great shape.

What do you think guys.

I didn't look at the pics, but bubbles means rust/prior bodywork comint thru. sure it can be fixed, but it could get pricey. are you thinking about getting the Bee? Looks like a good car, but like any 40+ year old car, it needs a few things. how is the parts supply over there? That black road runer looked good, especially with the Cragars :D, but I'd imagine the shipping cost would e expensive.

i don"t like the bubbles.....under the vinyl roof/door jams/inside bottom of the doors/front bottoms of fenders/quarters/lower corners of back window/water leaks in trunk/even looks like somebody changed the fender tag......etc......i would stay away from it........lousy body work...... and the price is way too high

The rot under the vinyl roof is the body seam. Not great, but fixable.

What you have there is a $30k car that needs a $15k body repair and paint job. Look at a couple years of frustration with at least one body shop on top of that.

I'd keep looking.

Thanks.

I am trying to work out the maths.

Import duties are the killer over here. Normally its 10% import duties plus 20% vat tax on top of that.

BUT..... if the cars over 30 years old and you can convince the customs authorities that the car is very rare, it can come into the country on 5% vat tax only and the import duties are waived.

from other peoples experience the "car is rare" bit is the difficult bit to prove. It all depends how many were made in that year and in what color, and how many are still left, or if it belonged to someone famous. A very grey area and apparently difficult to convince the officials.

I will fill in the forms but it can take over 7 weeks for a reply !!!

oh....and the shipping is $1200 from Baltimore to Southampton UK. plus $750 to truck it to Baltimore.

I suppose that the best thing would be to attend a big classic car auction over in the States and then drive the car to the port and make a vacation out of it. That's assuming that something tickles your fancy at the auction!!

good luck, I hope you can find a car that "tickles your fancy", coming over the pond & looking at the cars is a great idea, probably not that cheap to do either, but it could be a really fun/great experience too, that way you can see "all" the cars first hand, know exactly what your buying, make some new friends... have fun

Hi its me again guys after more of your knowledge.

I have been looking through Europe with a magnifying glass for Roadrunners and GTX's

What do you think of these?

http://www.moparuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45217

a really nice GTX with lots of history on this link about half way down the page (bit expensive for me though) http://www.billadeau-speed.co.uk/about.htm

and also this one

a nice Roadrunner A12 clone http://www.moparuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44633 again a bit pricey

then there is this in Belgium http://www.oldtimerfarm.be/en/colle...40/plymouth-road-runner-383-.php#.Uv4GamJ_v_A

but it looks like it will need a paint job at least. Underside pictures look a bit messy too.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers
