I'll start

Family of 3 (wife, daughter and self), trying to add one more to the fold, I'm the only person who works which is by choice, I make <$50k/year and I live in Northern California.

I saw the cheap-o Bronze plan (cheapest plan) monthly payments that are just under $300/month for someone my age. This isn't taking into account any potential high cost deductibles or fees. I have no idea what my family of 3 might cost; say $700/month $300 for me $300 for wife $100 for child... just guessing) I think I'm like many Americans who don't make a lot to pay for these plans, but make enough to pay for the others. Maybe I'll get a break due to my daughter being under 4, and we'll only pay $600/month and have like a small $3k deductible? *sarcasm*

This is just Bologna and wrong. What the heck is going on here? Someone punch-me and tell me this isn't really happening.

I need the recycled-glass or wet paper bag plan.

:drama:I just feel that ANYTIME the Government gets involved in anything, they screw it up. Look at Social Security for example. Was an OK system, until LBJ moved the lot of it to the general fund..... and spent it. UPS is a good example. USPS has been on the brink of going under for many years. Always raising the rates to accomodate poor Management. USP however, is making alot of money. The U.S. has become a country that hands out Billions to generations of people that have no intention of holding a job. They were "groomed" that way for many decades, living off food stamps and government programs and have been a prime example to thier children. Somewhat living in poverty, but surviving and having plenty to eat, but no ambition to better themselves. Now, on a different note, look at the Taxpayer, faithfully giving more than his share in taxes to provide for the "needy", while his Government gives Billions upon Billions to countries that would rather see us wiped off the face of the planet. Money Managers? The country could be much better off with a smaller government, that uses common sense, creating jobs here at home instead of abroad. It is what it is, but when the majority of the people rely on handouts and the ever deminishing taxpayer gets more load left upon him, there is a straw that will someday break the camels back. Just my complaints at the moment.

sometimes you just have to stand back and realize you need to improve your job situation...something with better pay and benefits for you and your family.....when i was starting out all i cared about was beer/fast cars and wild women.....the big picture is whats coming up down the road when you get old and maybe want to retire......benefits...health/dental/eye glasses/prescriptions....is a must today with a family.....god forbid something happens

Given how many folks are on the dole the rest of us are screwed. They all like that 'free' money; many are 2nd or 3rd generation.
God help us if the socialists maintain control after the next election......

Take it to the streets

LOL! I need to work to feed my family and pay my responsibilities. If i stop working to take it to the streets, who will pay for my healthcare? If you're retired perhaps you could fill in for me? I have a 2' box you could stand on. :)

Good idea to consider. I imagine as this Obamacare rolls out more and more employers who currently offer health care may either reduce or drop what they offer. Got my ear to the ground on this one. Appreciate the perspective!

I know right! It's like most of middle america falls into this "gray area" where THEY SAY we earn too much to qualify for a discount, but in reality the amount we earn after taxes is just enough to take 1 small vacation a year.

If I'm going to pay upwards of $500 or more per month, that money will go towards a 2014 Dodge Viper with diamonds in the rims LOL

My insurance premium went up a bit as well. Everyone says it's corporate greed that sunk this country. It's just greed across the board. Corporations, Unions, Government workers, welfare recipients, you name it. The chickens have really come home to roost, enjoy your "free" stuff America.

What is this "vacation" thing you speak of? Is that some new lingo I'm as yet unaware of?

:soap:my insurance co. sent a letter back in July to say thy was not going to raise my rate until after October ( i have bought my own insurance for 15 years now)when the rates go up ! You should expect to pay 200 to 300 more a mounth.i just wait until the non-working/free money/Santa clause crowd finds out that actually have to buy it also. HEARTBREAKER:nopity: this not the the free European style health care that brother Barack promised!

BTW, My health insurance has been over $700 monthly for a high deductible plan for quite a while now. Pretty typical premiums.

Some people that have employers that are paying part of their premiums... They're in for some real sticker shock when they find out what the real costs are.
