Sometimes it starts fine but the next time I try it only clicks. The battery is fully charged, replaced the starter and starter relay. Still nothing, it’s the relay that”clicks” you can feel it in the relay when someone else hits the key. What do I do now? Thanks for the help.

Check the grounding. What happens when you jump the relay. Try that. It is possible to get a new bad relay. Buy from NAPA. Better chance of getting a good product. Just a few thing's to think of.

Yeah it sucks, I just want to drive it. Takes a couple days to get junk parts then a couple more to replace them. Thanks for the help!

While you have the starter off run the flywheel over see if all the teeth are good.

The simplest thing's can drive you crazy. I got a new switch for this car. Like Rick said they are old. How many time do they get used like the drive's side door.

Do you have a test meter?
Or take a test light and check at the large terminal when the relay "clicks" but the starter does not do anything

The cable going down to the starter side.
Does the test bulb light brightly?
That's a start at least to see if the relay might indeed be bad.

Just put a new relay in and same thing. I’ll try wiggling the key, bring a test light home from work tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Darn it. Dose it start at all. Or is it just sometimes. You say you put a new starter on it. Just thinking. Dose the Relay click every time you hit the key. Yes a meter would be the best bet to make sure your getting power.

Doesn’t turn over at all anymore. Relay clicks every time you turn the key. Wiggling the key didn’t help at all. Replaced the starter because it’s old and it sounded funny the last time it did turn over.

Was the starter a new one or rebuilt. So now where down to the starter. Going to check all the connections on it and are you getting power to it. Check the ground connection. To the motor.

All the connections seem good. There is constant power to the relay and to the starter. Is there supposed to be power at the starter with the key off? Starter was a reman. But it did all of these same things with the old starter.

I will have to look mine over tomorrow. It has been five year's since mine was taken apart. Been doing sheet metal and body work on the car and now am getting to the wiring. Their is a big wire that goes to the starter and a little wire which should be what make's the starter engage and work when key is turned to start. Maybe one of the other guy's here will chime in and clear up this. This wire could be in the bulk head block. Their is a lot of problem's with wires and connection's their. That might be where you have to look also.
