Hey guys. It's Phil, from halfway across the globe in Greece!
Finally after buying it March, the car is in my hands! Seriously after seeing it up close, nothing, absolutely nothing compares to that presence. An incredibly imposing car.
(My old man is on the first pic, doing that fatherly inspection face :p)

There was an unfortunate incident on the way, nothing too serious, but the front left wheel fell off. Studs must have been very rusty and the threads were destroyed.
I wanted to ask you guys, where the strongest place on it on the front to tie a harness on and tow it. I will need to tow it about half a mile after I replace the wheel. It's very exposed where it is now.
Also, I cannot open the trunk! The lock is gone, it's just a hole there, but the lid is closed well, I don't think locked though since there is no lock! Is there a latch somewhere I've been missing? My air grabber assembly must be in there I guess.

Screwdriver through hole in trunk can work mechanism to open trunk.
bumper itself is designed to support car when jacked up so anywhere along bumper, frame rails can hold it up

Nylon strap to K member may be the best place for a tow strap. I would be more apt to pull it from the rear or tow it. Nice project car. Vinyl top car. :thumbsup2:

Yeah it has that strip of chrome on the pillar on the back. But I don't think I saw vinyl roof on the broadcast sheet and the roof appears to have too little rust, usually vynil tops roofs were way worse.

Thank you! I put the wheel back on today. Took a while to find lug studs and nuts locally but apparently, apart from length a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokees lug studs have the same specifications. Haha if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality from Chrysler.

If the brakes still work a bit (doubtful, they looked like they were hydraulic?) I might try to tow it that half mile with my Dakota. (Mopar or no car)

Opened the trunk as well with a screw driver. Air filter and air grabber assembly is back there!

I was also very surprised to find how well the door locks still work!

Sure, with that trim on the sail panel area it was at one time or another. Give us some pics when you start working on it. We love pics. :thumbsup2:

I want to start by making it drivable. Really can't wait that long to drive it! But a full restoration will follow yeah. Floors are rotted, there are no front floors really, but the frame rails seemed in a surprisingly ok condition. Only that part below the trunk is a bit worse than the rest, which I presume was typical on these cars. Also surprised how well the rear seats hold up. I'll get a ton of pics tomorrow for you all!

Oh, Welcome to the site. Yea those trunk pans rot out due to the gas tank trap's all kinds of Debrie that never gets cleaned out. Happy your another runner owner. :beep:

Roof trim presence might be an indicator that it originally came with a painted top - and by that I mean something other than body color.

Hey guys. I pulled the car today with my Dakota. Someone was sitting on the bird to steer and brake when needed (with the parking brake)
Out strap snapped at one point even though it was rated for 6 tons. Good think it was on even ground. This is where I towed it from. Seemed to me like the sturdiest part.

Rolled nicely with inflated tyres, and streering was pretty good as well actually.
Engine still has the normal amount of oil in it haha.
I want to get below to see the engines casting numbers but can't right now

That is the K member you used the strap on. Right about the strongest part. So, you are on the way to getting it running and driving. It is going to need a lot of love. So did mine when getting it home. Good luck and keep us posted on progress.

Hey. a four-speed car. Looks like you have your work cut out for you. I got mine running and drove it into the shop. Then the money and work started to flow. Having a complete back seat is a plus. You have a hard time finding them. Once you get into the motor you will know a lot more about it.

Ya it's going to need a lot of work, but I can see the potential.

Nice score! looks like youve got your work cut out for you. Your dad pulls the stern inspection face, but he will love riding in it just like my Dad does. He also pulled the same face originally.
