Stuck in a parking lot no joke hey guys.
Anybody know why this wire would heat up?
This happened on my charger to but all I had to do was hook it back up

I’m going home to get a wire so I could jump the coil and just drive it home because there’s no hot at the coil it’s just cranking over nothing by the key and no headlights also I had to jump it at the relay
Happy Friday the 13th it was going along great until I decided to take my car for a ride

The infamous bulkhead connector.
You will probably find some worn, fried, or just plain breaking connections inside there.

I’m at Home Depot right now buying speaker wire just to get it home.
Wish me luck hopefully I don’t start any fires under the hood

May I suggest buying a new wiring harness and bulk connector cause man those wires are fifty years old you could have a break in the line anywhere most of all you need a good ground wire and also check your wires going to the voltage meter that’s why a lot of these cars used to catch a fire, I’m just saying that’s what I did better to be safe than always wandering if and when it could burn up

Thanks, But this harness is in beautiful shape one little burnt wire which is a very common problem on these cars I am not changing my harness thank you!
No new Chinese crap is going in my car!
After checking it out nothing was melted behind the conection just the 1 wire was worn out. I made a new Wire the proper gauge and replaced it.
Came out nice. thanks for the help.

Umm did you not have a thread titled What to do next? M&H harnesses from year one are expensive but made in the USA if you need them.

Darn it John that Friday 13th curse. I was looking for spider gears and side gears for my differential and all I got was NO. Figured to quit looking when someone told me what day it was. Not that makes any difference but just in case will start again Monday.

that's only one of the nice thing about these old cars....some wire and duct tape and we're back on the road. try doing that with a 2020.....and I see newish cars along side the road all the time.I've been diving old cars since '80, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a problem that required coming home on a hook.

LoL, it all comes back to me now. More breakdowns than you could shake a stick at, hated working on in winter. 30 below in Saco River Valley sometimes early morning. That thing would not start until I put engine heater in; started better than summer then.

John you can get the bulk head connector at classic industries and the new blades to go onto the wires. Just to let you know. Hope you went and got the automotive wire instead of speaker wire at the auto parts store. To replace it rite. Any thing will work to get you home. Good luck buddy. Russ.

CB312577-A8F9-4265-AE47-31278F8A4AAC.jpeg Never changed one on road runner but autos also had fuse wires once upon a time. Blended right in with harness wiring and usually resoldered in place. They would burn up, different colors determined amperage.

This was a piece of wire itself not an inline fuse with leads. Try to locate info. Only thing I could find was fuse link as part of starter relay circuit. Mechanics hated them. Here it is- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=fusible+...=t&hvqmt=e&tag=mh0b-20&ref=pd_sl_4oj1w8rt09_e
