Runner update

Got a little work done today, headliner insulation, spash shields, wind shield washers, finished the dash insulation. And John the washers were plated with zinc, another use for the kit. I did the screws clips and squirters.

Bob, are those your original splash shields reconditioned or did you find an aftermarket source? The reason that I ask is that the passenger side splash shield on Bambi is missing (someone removed it to route an antennae wire on a radio delete car - don't ask, I have NO idea...) and I need to score one. Haven't gone looking yet but was wondering if new repops were available.

That car looks fantastic BTW!!!

Ray. The are old and powder coated. Watch out for the guys that think the dodge ones are the same, they will not fit. The fender opening is different and the one tab you see on the outside lip of the fender is closer to the wheel on a dodge, so the splash shield is raised at that point!

Thanks for the head's up, Bob. Plymouth good, Dodge bad. Got it.

It's coming along great!  Those pictures would be great in a seperate restoration section.

Yea they would be... Wait.... Do we have a section like that?
I was trying to say lets move the pictures to the Reference Section so they don't get lost once the job is complete, thats all.

If John chooses to its ok but I have them if anyone needs them. The thing that takes so long is I have a large book of the fasteners used on these cars and the finish! Details

Maybe I'll say "yes" just to see what you come up with...

I would like to hear more about your fastener book though; that sounds like something that could save a truckload of time for those of us that will eventually follow in your footsteps...but I didn't understand from your post if this is something that you have been putting together or if you found one and following it was adding additional time to the reassembly?

Heck I didnt understand my post, must have been under the influence :lmao: I'll get the info and post it in a bit

Here is the book. Its by Byron Fettig and David Wise. Dave was doing the concourse judging along with Scott Smith Harms in Vegas. Its about 500 pages for 68-70 Plymouth B body only, but get ready to shell out $75 they have gone up in price! Go to MMCdetroit website to get it, good info there also!

John its a good idea to archive good info, but your not thinking of redoing yours are you? It looks great and I thought you kept it as clean as a show poodle :jester:

Bob, are you aiming for a Gold Certification for this thing or what?

As an aside but somewhat related, I was talking to Mark (the guy I told you guys about with the S-Bird, Daytona, Machine, Boss 302, and a bunch of other MoPars here locally) the other day and he was telling me about an A12 Super Bee that went for the Gold at the MoPar Nats last year or the year before (can't recall - and I did Carlisle the last couple of years but not the Nats so I don't know firsthand). Anyway, this show poodle is correct in every way - except that it does not run worth a crap. When they tried to fire it up to move it from the judging area it's spitting and sputtering and can't even move under its own power; they eventually give up and push it out of the judging area. Some fine example of the species. I'd much rather have an A12 that cuts 12.20's all day long and has a few bolts painted/plated incorrectly, the wrong (as in too large) fuel line, and a T-Handle on the stick & a chrome cover on the Dana than one that is letter perfect and has to pushed from the podium. What's the point if it doesn't do what it was originally built to do? JMHO.

Not drawing any parallels with your car, BTW. Just relating a story. But we will need some photos showing some tire smoke and a couple of close-ups depicting rubber chunks on the quarter panels once it's finished... :lmao:

Thanks for the compliment. I have no plans to restore mine again. Updates and improvements, yes. Complete teardown and re-assembly, no. Keep the pictures coming.

It will get used, I will have to check my attitude when its finished on how hard I drive it. I did hammer it before I took it apart :D

well I learned after my fire you never know when your baby can be taken from you. respect it, but enjoy it! :drive: (got any more pics?)

Just taggin along and enjoying the ride......awesome work you've done. What about the rubber extensions on the splash shields. They look new?

Redoing the front end on my bird right now. For the most part in great shape but the old rubber on the splash shields is falling apart...need to buy or make.
