I see where you're coming from. The only real suggestion I have then is to replace the oil pan gasket with a "windage tray" much better/easier to use gasket and adds horsepower.

This 383 has a Windage tray sandwiched between 2 gaskets.

I believe you 69 but I am surprised. This project is my first nuts and bolt resto. I didn't research the process "oil pan gasket install" before hand I had no idea I should use extra gaskets. (there has been a lot of steps I had/have no idea of until I have to do it again). The windage tray I got has a pretty thick rubber ring for a gasket. I have had no leaks from it (one of the few areas that I didn't have to tweek.) I still have a tiny drip from the "reverse lever detent spring retainer" on my A833 that confuses me because when I remove it, hardly any more amount fluid comes out than with it in. The tranny was rebuilt by a shop I will not do any more business with. when I first removed it there was no gasket on it but when I put one on it still leaked. The leak is very minimal but I know it's still there.

You got an after market windage tray that is self sealing the originals are just sheet metal and require gaskets. The reverse gear is the hardest part of a rebuild and I bet they skipped it!

This was my first wideage tray, the pan was hard plastic with thick rubber seal top and bottom. The whole thing was rigid, modest cost and easy to install.
The manual tranny shop I used was recommended to me by the owner of an automatic tranny shop I've known for a long time. So i trusted him. when I got there, the shop looked like it was out of the movie Deliverance! outside old trannies in the mud and scattered everywhere, inside wasn't any better. I had to take it back to him twice afterwards and dragging any work or information out of him was a struggle. The receipt was scribbled "rebuild tranny" and the amount.
Sorry for dragging out my frustration with him.
So, if the reverse gear wasn't done, what would that do? (besides possible not going backwards)

If the reverse gear was not removed the O-ring was not replaced thus the leak. He may have cut the new O-ring installing it also I wouldn't accuse him of not doing it. The whole transmission has to come apart to change it.

Hey 69Hemibeep! Took your suggestion and Cruz’d in to the Mixteca parking lot at 3:30pm today and could not believe all of the classic car porn....Amazing! Nice little show.
I think I was a little late, it was packed. Could’nt find my fellow Mopar guys,but we just cruised thru a couple of times and decided next time be a little bit better prepared. Like Noontime maybe...can’t wait!
