Here is what I just ran into on my rebuild of a 69 runner. Early 69 had the 68 hood on it and header. I was questioning this fact that may be the car was wrecked and other part's where put on the car to rebuild it. The hood that came on it was a donner hood but the header had the vin number of the car. AMD sell's the 69 Hood's and the difference is the order number for late production has a number and early production has the number plus an A. Don't figure. It cost me another 140 buck's to ship the wrong one back and get the early model 69 hood. So beware when ordering a hood for these runner's.

That is sooo cool, I have to resist the urge to copy it.
I've often wondered if a 69 B Runner trunk pan would accommodate a 69 Charger tank for that fill.

If it is truly a race car then the gas tank is bolted inside the trunk due to it being a bladder tank. The filler cap looks like a race type filler cap. Just a thought of what I see with out looking into the trunk.

Yeh it's hard to tell. I tried to blow the photo up and its to blurry to see any better. It just looks like the vents point out to the side from the photo instead of on top like a 69 and I can't see any trim piece documenting the engine that lays within. Nice car though if you like that stuff all over the outside like that. Unique, but not for me.

I was just thinking that even though everyone drools over second gen Chargers that paint would not work at all on one.
But on this car, I think the bill board effect is killer.

I think that filler cap looks like it's off a Charger. But I don't know for certain

I thought they set more flush with the quarter rite. This look's like the quick filler cap race car's use. May be wrong but that is my thought's.

Cool car. was one similar for sale here in OZ on EBAY a while back, in the ronny sox red-white-blue theme. From what I remember, it didnt sell, asking price was somewhere in the vicinity of the 100K AU$.
Not saying it was THIS car, but looked a hell of a lot like the stumbling bird out of this video

Not for sure certain, but that car does look very similar to one for sale a while back on one of the internet sites. Typically Road Runners that come up for sale, that have obviously had the daylights raced out of them don't do too well and also many have had the interior completely destroyed for racing setup.

I know this car - it was mine ;-) before transformation into this race car replica, it's a standard satellite 383, nothing powerful, just a nicely done custom exterior and interior with a marshall speaker front as backseat since the guy is musician. it was for sale about a year ago here in switzerland. i've imported this about 10 years ago from California, perfect look but with tonnes of bondo, just cheap put together nothing working, but since it was a project i didnt care... it was an awesome straight shiney new paintjob but quarterpanels riveted over each other rusting out from the front, trunkfloor gone etc... finally it was a complete resto of a new resto ;-) the Picture RR1 shows the same location as the picture finalized above, Cheers Marco

Hello ACME I'm very sorry for my english, and very sorry to everybody who misunderstood that. i've edited my post and removed that part above, i didnt want to "hurt" someone. however, i've imported dozens of cars from the USA all in different price ranges mostly between 20K to 50K. i know you get what you pay for - but that's not always true, some are better built some worse, but in general all of those cars had this "missing" extra step to make things overall just right. they all looked ok from the outside, but when you open the trunk, or remove the carpet or check the wiring whatever... it was just more shine than quality, it doesnt match in total (see example pics attached. of course there are great bodymans excellent workers, but it's not the wide available stuff in the internet. with the "typical" i meant putting alot of work in something like 15-20K in a paintjob but paint over rusted stuff with alot of bondo, painting undercarriage but installing old rusty brake lines, investing 100K in a nut and bolt restoration but using the old burned wiringharnesses.. and using old ujoints on a fresh painted k-member, rotted frames covered with Plastic U-Panels all of those cars i got had that, and all of the cars i see for sale here (Direct imports) still look that way. even as an experienced person, there's alot hidden that can't be seen online. i attach a few examples (the golden trunk and the driver floor is the same car, the roof was another great driver looking car, i have hundreds of examples. again sorry for my words, but i hope you understand what i mean now ;-) Best R.

All clear now - thank you for taking the time to explain and edit. Sadly I think that most of us have at one time or another thought that we were bringing home an automotive beauty queen - only to find out that she had a lot of warts once we got her home...so we can relate to your comments.

Conversely there are a lot of folks that really go the extra mile to correctly repair and restore their vehicles. You'll find quite a few on this website.

you are right that looks like say a le-mons race fill like a cobra

I can attest to what you are saying. The back window area where Dutch mans panel and the sail panels are where filled with bond o instead of using new metal. Yes on line they look good till you get them home and start looking further. Look's like you went in to it deep for sure. So have many of us once we got started on the frames and body's.
