One more.
Good eye, you guys nailed it. The had lined up the keyway with the O on it instead of the O on the gear and the key in the one with the O on it. I totally missed that. You guys are great. That made it off 3 teeth. Holy crap.69hemibeep said:I see the cam gear mark, is the crank mark above the keyway I cant see it? I havent done a wedge in years but alot of engines the timing mark and keyway are different I think you may be way off. That would be the cause of the piston and valves. Got a better pic of the crank gear?Hoosier Bird said:Couple more pictures..........
mcmopar said:That can easily explain why the valves were kissing the pistons.
george68hemirr said:i think we are dying to see want up under that timing chain cover....also piston to valve clearences should be check....they should be tapping the pistons.....maybe the heads are shaved too much,...you might have to shim up with a thicker head gasket.....its gotta be the chain not installed correctly
And pistons.......george68hemirr said:george68hemirr said:i think we are dying to see want up under that timing chain cover....also piston to valve clearences should be check....they should be tapping the pistons.....maybe the heads are shaved too much,...you might have to shim up with a thicker head gasket.....its gotta be the chain not installed correctly
so now thats it out look at everything close and do new rings, bearings and have those heads check out

That’s what I am running. but if the pistons are flat top and no valve relief’s in them you don't want to run over a 500 lift cam. that’s why a chose to run an EX268H intake .477 exhaust.480I think 10:1 would be good. I could use one of the cams I have and still run on pump gas. All I need is a flat top piston that runs flush with the deck.

Whenever I hear about the KB pistons, I remember hearing a local guy spouting off on what junk they are... He's one of thise guys that has problems with everything though.... His engine builder didn't read KB's recomendations about ring gap and the ends butted. Of course that was KB's fault.. Yea... Right....
Hoosier Bird said:Looks like I need to cc one of my heads since they have been cut. KB pistons compression height is 1.906 which puts it .026 in the hole. Theoretically the flat top piston will give me 9.24:1 and the dome will give me 10.3:1. The domed can be cut to make it a little less. They are both cut for valves. I need to check a little closer because if my heads are 72cc that changes the ratios to 9.6 and 10.76........my current compression height is 1.844
