Thanks!

:jester:

And yes, it would! I had a set on it a few years ago. I really liked them, with the red line tires.

holy friggin crap! looks like muddy 1/4s for me for a few more years. maybe i'll reread that thread over on the 'parts on painting your car with a roller......
you've put down $4000 already, was that including the cost of the parts as well? just what are they going to do for another $5300?
and remember Steve, someone here said "it's all worth it on the first ride...." :D

nothing is cheap today.....in 1996 a body shop wanted 8500-9500 to do my car up......i ended up welding on my new quarters and help my guy with the body work....we painted it in my garage....the price......2500 with the paint/bondo/sand paper/etc.....today most body shops would rather do honda fender for 2 grand.....so what you are paying isnt too bad unless you get someone to do it in your garage

Next time take a gun with you for negotiations. Polish it while they try to rape you, I bet you get a better price. $9300 is assanine. Even here in SoCal where everyone thinks they sh&t gold bars. Pull it.

No, that doesn't include the parts. The only good thing there is that I've bought the parts over the course of the last few years.

The other $5300 is stripping off all the old paint, which is about 5 different colors/layers. There's a few patches that need done on the doors, and in the windshield channel. Then, paint it up the way it should be.

Yeah, im not really sure. Local guys here want about $5k just for paint and labor and materials. Typically, that doesn't include the body work needed to get it to that stage. I called around to several different places last year. This place was the best for quality/reputation and price.

Im thinking that I'll get all of the body work done, nose to tail, this year. Next year with my tax return I'll get it painted.

well it serves you right for wanting a nice car....... :acme:
I just can't get over how much bodywork co$t$. It sounds like you've got a good plan. At least you should get some drving this year. and remember..no shame in primer. I had more fun with this primer than I had with shiney paint in years! probably where mine's gonna be if I can at least get my skins on.

Thanks. Yeah, actually, it would be fun to drive it in primer, since there wouldn't be any worries. Thats the plan for now anyways.

Just a couple new pics from today. Nothing major really.

The guy in the green shirt is my uncle, who started things on the car 2 years ago. So far, he's been extremely pleased with the way things are being done. He has yet to disagree with anything done, or thinking that they may be short cutting things. Im really surprised, actually, as he's fairly hard to please. Looking back over things, I think I made the right decision taking the car here. It's definitely costing me a crap ton of cash, but overall, I think I would've regretted going somewhere else. At any other shop, I doubt there'd be near as much completed, especially if I would've taken it to the older guy. With him, I'd doubt that the quarters would even be on yet.

Of course, I haven't even started to mention meeting my now current beautiful girlfriend here at the shop. While I'm certainly a poor guy now, Im also a very lucky guy.

yeah no sense settling for a quickie half assed job that falls apart a year later. It hurts the wallet, but the results are looking good.
