This is such a simple mod there is no good reason not to do it.
If for no other reason than to get the load off of the headlight switch.
Oh and seeing better too.
I had a wiring problem and it motivated me to do it.
Here's the prints on the A body I did.
It's my commuter and I drive at night.
(No comments on the THHN wire. It's 90C but I had it. And I used 125 C heat shrink on it.)
See the bottom of the prints where I modified them.
I know there is some discussion about fuse verses circuit breakers.
If someone chooses CBs under the hood, be sure they are water proof.
Marine maybe.
I went with water proof fuse holders because I figure they are more reliable than a mechanical CB in a bad environment.
And cheaper.
If someone doesn't want to cut their existing harness, just realize that all this wire can be "added" to the car and you can leave your original wires in place. The only thing is you have to get the control wires to your dimmer switch someway if you don't want to cut them.
I like keeping circuits separated and not wrapping them all up in the same run anyway.
My alternator wire is by itself.
Yes.
Bigger wires from the relays to the bulb sockets are not absolutely necessary.
But IF you are putting new sockets in, might as well.
It's all old anyway.
I put in ceramic sockets on this car just case I ever wanted to change to H4(?) instead of my 7 inch sealed beams that I have a pile of.
I shopped on Amazon and bought the best deals on what I needed.
I should mention to crimp AND solder connections.
