69 HImibeep, at first you had me scratching my head. Looked at your advice again this morning, tried it, first time the wheels turned the other way, third time was a charm.
Some weird stuff goes on with this/these cars, I don't know if I ever would have figured this one out.
Thank you for...
Wow! a colored coded wiring diagram? my eyes go blurry tracing mine in black and white.
My horn relay hooks up to a black w/white stripe wire for ground (diagram shows black no stripe) violet for power and dark green to the horn on the same T connector.
Woodwiz, mine is a 68post car, i have no trim on it, yet? but, it does roll under like yours does in the back. the top of my door, has holes in it like trim is supposed to be on top and don't have the back pop out windows in yet but maybe trim goes there as well. Just guessing, because until...
Just got mine working, the black hooks up to one connector on the relay and the violet with two green wires hook up to the other. like 69's pic. The second green just hangs loose because I believe satallites and GTX's use the same wiring but have two "Sparten" horns. I also have a brown wire...
And Russ, I apologize for giving false info on a shifter question you had on a hurst shifter post. This is the A833 four speed overdrive out of a mid 80's truck or cargo van. The shifter is obviously towards the rear, not the more to the front as I misstated .
Nice looking engine and thanks to both of you for the dyno specs. Here's a rookie question. In doing the search on my 383 engine numbers, 2468130 – 1959-1971, 383 B-series big-block. I believe it's a replacement. my car was released in Jan of 68 and engine stamp is Dec of 68. Looking at the pics...
I removed and re-installed my engine with the tranny hooked up. Strait forward. A few start ups later, my ring gear started spinning free without moving the flywheel.
Removing and re-installing the four speed when the car is 16 inches off the ground is no fun.
Good Luck!
Russ69, My car was originally an automatic. it was pointed out by someone in passing to look into the back up light switch as automatic is in the steering column. After lots of looking at the schematic and a lot of tracing under the dash and in the steering column, I decided the best/easiest way...
My 383 is a 68 as is my car. I've got them written down somewhere but Can't locate the numbers off my A833 without climbing under right now and don't know if there visible. I've looked it up in the past when it was out of the car and mine is originally out of an early 80s dodge truck or van...
If the color was deep, red, rust, then yeah, but they were all the same.
I got them from the trunk where everything was rusted. At first I had no idea what they were,
I had no idea they would come color coded.
I'll probable be able to pre fit before hand.
Most of the trim and interior parts were stripped off, damaged and on the floor or in the trunk when I got the car.
The manual is pretty good but doesn't cover everything.
So this is a learn as I go, and, I'm growing more impressed with this site, the openness and knowledge, willing to share the...
Wow! Great instructions. Thanks for the info.
I have a 68 but little will change. I have not received the liner yet and all the windows are out.The car didn't come with a headliner. It does have the bows (that I have de-rusted) and one "cup"they rest in. I need to locate more. I will find a...
Oh! yeah, it's what I'd needed to hear. An answer to agree with my hopes.
Good news is, I fixed the leak. After 50 years of over tightening the holes needed to hammered back to kinda original.
Thanks for responding.
Don't know where else to ask.
I found one more leak! 383RRE
My passenger side valve cover was leaking. While removing it, I scratched it in a couple of spots.
Went to auto store and purchased VHT high temp engine enamel the same I used when I first painted the engine.
After prepping...
This was my first wideage tray, the pan was hard plastic with thick rubber seal top and bottom. The whole thing was rigid, modest cost and easy to install.
The manual tranny shop I used was recommended to me by the owner of an automatic tranny shop I've known for a long time. So i trusted him...
