Manual says to hold for .5-1.0 second - I`ve tried .5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5 seconds with no success? I ended up welding a piece of metal on and using my big slide hammer and worked fine. I`m not even sure the studs would be strong enough to pull the thicker metal even if they were holding so I`ll just keep going with the welding and slide hammer method.

Front drivers one is done, the rear is caved in pretty good and the bottom of the spring perch is also bent up right on the bend, going to need a bit of heat there.

Third and last caved in frame rail repaired, somehow the passenger front escaped the wrath of all the previous owners floor jacks. On to zapping up the holes from the self tapping screws used to hold the floor pan down tight and continue cleaning up the rest of the original floor and rails.

So after owning a `70 383, 4spd car back in 1980 and having to get rid of it instead of my dream of restoring I laways wanted another one. I`ve had other projects come and go along with my Barracuda I bought in 1982 which is my "keeper" but after selling a `69 Barracuda I built I decided to try and find another `70 road runner, this was in the year 2000. This time I wanted a factory FC7 painted one, I would have preferred white interior, 4 spd and other options (440-6, Hemi) but as always my budget was limited. I was able to find one for sale in New Jersey for $5,000 that looked very solid for a North East vehicle, had matching numbers 383 engine, missing transmission and a lot the interior which was black bench seat, column shift. Not having a truck or decent trailer to go get it I had a buddy offer to pick it up for a reasonable fee and since I was buying it sight unseen he could also check it out when he got there. I was very happy when I looked at t once it was home as the seller described it accurately, I`ve been buying parts for since then and had the engine rebuilt but otherwise have not done much with it. I finally made room in the shop by selling my truck project so have the space and some cash to finally get the project going. The plan is to go mostly stock looking with some added options and some "Day Two" add ons like slot wheels, Sun tach etc.

I wish it was going faster but I`m old with a bad back so progress is slow. I have to limit my time in the garage to a couple hours a day tops or I pay for it. I don`t really have a set goal/timeline to get it done but hopefully will have it ready to paint by spring.
Ya I turned 70 two weeks ago. Getting old is not for sissy's

Well I bought a 72 Cuda in December. It's pretty rough, going to need front fenders, floor pans, rear frame rails, trunk pans, quarter panels, rear crossmember, and tail panel. I'm thinking about hanging 71 sheetmetal, I really love the 71. What do you think?

Love it! It`s your car to do as you plesae but IMO leave it a `72, way too many `71 `cuda clones out there as it is and I get tired of seeing them. Even though my favorite year `cuda is the 1970 I`m also partial to `72s as I`ve had mine since 1982.

That is sweet. I was off on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm close to having the floor pans done. All that will be left is the quarter panels. Time is the enemy now. I went back to work because parts have gotten so expensive, I now have parts but no time to work on them. Anyway that is a beautiful Fury.

I`m getting close to painting the underside so decided to do a spray out of my Tamco FC7 sample, I am not happy at all with the color match. Center strip is Tamco and outers are factory original.

I just turned 80 two weeks ago and am doing my 'I 70 Road Runner by myself. I just added the wider rear tubs and relocated the rear springs with the AMD kit. The car is up on 4 jackstands with 2 - 4" x 4" timbers on two tires abut where the tranny is just in case. I just finished welding the spring relocations parts on to relocate them inside the frame. My welding skills are improving but I had to go over them a few times. Where do the front bucket seat holes go? Mine has a new floor pan with no holes. The good part of being old is that I am retired so I can work all day on it. I still need to weld in the wheel tubs and repair the rusted part of the passenger rear frame. The drivers side is good but the passenger, not so good. I live in Texas but some days the garage is really cold. I use the "Elon Musk" plug in heaters and they work pretty darn good.

I`m 65 and have been on disability since 2020 due to a bad back. The good is that I have more time to work on my Mopars but the bad is that I can only do a few hours at a time due to my physical limitations and also the disability doesn`t pay anywhere near what I was making so money for parts and supplies is tight.
