My 69 currently has 14” road wheels that are starting to look pretty rough. The closest replacement that I’m coming up with are the magnum 500’s. Not really a fan of the chrome on the 500’s that I’m finding but I suppose they will do. I was hoping to get a little wider tire on the back so I was thinking about going with the 15 x 8 on the rear and maybe the 15x7 on the front. My question is about the backspacing. The 15x7 are showing 4-1/4” and the 15x8 are showing 4-1/2”. Will this setup fit fine? Anyone running a similar setup? I’m new so I tried searching through the forum before posting but couldn’t find the answer I was looking for. Sorry if this has been discussed 100 times and I’m overlooking it.
Attached is a pic of the car with the current wheels which I love, just wish they were in better shape 289D05B6-39D4-462A-85EF-D448C5F12BFE.jpeg

Sounds like it should fit fine. One thing to watch out for however is when you change wheel sizes the speedo will read wrong. There is a small gear in the tranny that will need to be replaced with the one sized for your new wheel dia.

That is the combo I will run but want 6" wide on front. Maybe. Already have 8" on the back. 4 and 1/2 back spacing. :thumbsup2:

Im running 15X8's with 4 1/2 backspace on the back with 275/60 R15's. Fitment no issue. These are about and inch and a half taller than my previous tire height, dropped about 400rpm cruising at 70mph.

Love to see a pic! Are you running 15x8’s on the front as well or what’s the front setup?

15 x 8's on the front with 235's. My car sits pretty low (reversed the eyes on the leaf springs) and still no problem with fitment.

I like the narrow style tire on the front to give the back tire that beefy look. Have not gotten to that point yet but would like a smaller width tire on the front. Just my choice.

Wish I could put 10's on the back but that won't happen with out mini tubing the car. I looked into that and it would not work for me. After all want to keep the car as original as possible. Thanks TOMRR that is the old 60's and 70's look I am use to seeing.

Yes Ronliv. That is what I was thinking. Think 6 inch width would be too narrow but I do like that combo you have their. I will probably follow that lead. Due to the front tires do not distract from the back width. :thumbsup2:

Seems to be the common combination. I talked to a good number of RR owners before this decision and I like the way it makes the car sit. There is plenty of rear tire there, for me anyway, for those who want more than stock rubber and a little bit of hot rod look.

I run 295/50/15's with 15"X8" wheels on the rear with several sets of different types of wheels between my Chargers, Challenger and Road Runner. Here is a couple of them on the Chargers. I like a lower meatier look and not jacked up too high in the rear.

Hey Russ, just for you - I ran a set of 15x10' steelies over the weekend with some MT 28'' slicks - no rubbing. Except for that evil speed hump halfway down the return road, got me every time!

Wheel is from wheel vintiques, stock item, 15x10, 4 1/2" backspace. Could do with another 1/4 inch on the backspace (4 3/4" total)slicks1.jpg slicks2.jpg

I you look at what I did with the 2 and half inch recurve spring's think I might could get away with it. But need to finish the car and see where it sit's when fully loaded. I like it Russ. Thanks. :thumbsup2:

Not the repops, but I have some originals on my Road Runner. Both are rough, wheels and the car but I have hope.
