I debated on answering about the Charger wheels... but I decided to not let it go if at least for others that wonder if they can use a late model wheel.
Don't forget, you didn't say anything about just bolting this up to try it.... Your post sounded like you wanted to run that wheel.
You have two different, but close bolt circles. 4.5" x 5 (114.3mm) or 115mm x 5. The early car has the 4.5 (114.3MM) BC. Not a lot of difference, .7mm. Some will even say that it will work. It's still not right though. The force on the wheel studs as the lug nuts tighten are now forced outward as well as in tension for one. The wheel may not center correctly as the wheel is tightened too. Will it bolt up? Sure.... Will the wheel fall off? Probably not... but like using a wheel adapter you've just done something half assed to an important part of your car.
Regarding the rear wheel... The center of the rear axle is the same size as the hub of the front wheel. It's purpose is to center the wheel independent of the lug nuts. If your wheel didn't fit over the front hub, the wheel didn't fit over the center of the rear either. Chances are you tightened the wheel against the center and not flush to the drum. That's an easy mistake to make and a recipe for disaster.
Like a lot of the guys here, I usually don't respond to the occasional "donk" wheel threads. Not to my taste and not to the taste of most of the others here. In this case, it was my opinion that you were doing something with that Charger wheel that could really cause a problem. I've personally seen wheels come off cars and trucks for lots of reasons and the results are quite often really bad.... and not just for the people in the car. Thrown wheels kill people. I've seen it myself.
You have a very nice car. Your Dad did well to include you in its restoration. Give him my thanks for that.
One more thing..... Go to the shows to have fun. Don't worry about judges and trophies. You'll have more a lot more fun that way.
