What size carburetor.

Have a 600 cfm Holley on the 383 now. Purple cam with 9.8 to 1 compression. Vacuum secondary. Getting hesitation at cruse speed. It runs strong when giving it pedal and accelerates well. Seems to be plenty of power their. But the stutter comes in like I said at cruse. Strange. Idles good. Revs good. Tan color on the plug's so it dose not seem to be running lean. Any thought would be appreciated. Russ.

1.you need to know what vacuum is at idle in drive then cut that in hafe to know witch power valve in the metering block . 2. there is a check ball in the secondary vacuum diaphragm housing that needs to be removed. 3. that carb might be a little small if you could get your hands on a holly 3310-2 or 3 is the best on a big block mopar. with a few tricks there so good when tuned right it is scary

Hi Russ. I had the same issue. I got a classic 4150 Holley 650 double pumper, advanced my timing a bit and it's great now. I think my compression is 9.1 . Just added a 3500 CFM electric pusher fan and I'm running about mid range in the safe area, maybe about 190. I needed that. It gets hot here in the desert.

LOL looking at the thermometer just reminded me I have a defective one. I put a new one up this spring and when the weatherman said it was 115 or so I would look at the thermometer on the patio and it was only 110. After several of those daysI put it on the sidewalk to super heat it and it sticks on 110 and won't go up. Maybe I should keep it LOL
