Its crazy i can tighten it up but when i go to loosen it just spins.
You probably stripped it by trying to unscrew it without first removing it from the spindle. It had no where to go. Follow HemiBeep's instructions above, especially the part about backing off the torsion bars.

Do you have the ball joint stud separated from the spindle? If not, that is your problem. Looks like to me that the ball joint tightens and loosens just fine, but the spindle and ball joint stud are holding it all in..

get pickle fork and separate the stud from the spindle before going any further

Clean up the inside good and use the expensive red lock tight when putting it back. That should hold it in. Think their is a torque spec in the service manual for every thing. Good job. :thumbsup2:

Update: I've been meaning to update but i testing for the Covid. It really wasnt bad as i stay in shape and have no health issues.

Anyway, i have the passenger side finished and about to be done on the drivers side. I dont think they have ever been changed. Thanks for all the advice and help. I could have had this done but id rather get my hands dirty and enjoy the time with the car.

Motor is just about to come home. The last big Item to get into the car. Can't do my console till the trannie is in and things should go faster once that power plant is in the car. Waiting to do grill and the rest of the parts up front once the motor is in. Good to here that all is fine with the part's on the front end. It is a job for sure. Keep us posted on the progress and Pic's. :thumbsup2:
