I'm with you there, Gary. The Magnum 500/Road Wheel is my all-time personal favorite wheel on a '69 road runner but sometimes its fun, as Garth (Mike Myers) used to say, to "cleanse the palette" with the original look. My car was originally ordered with the stamped wheels and Plymouth Division hubcaps. I like putting them on for a little while so that when I put the Magnum 500's back on it makes me appreciate the impact the chrome wheels make. Its like...BAM!!! Those Magnums really pop! Taking them off gives me the opportunity to inspect them for damage and clean them up really good, too.

There is a W1 '69 Hemi Coronet R/T down here somewhere that I occasionally see at shows that wears its original recall wheels and a set of redlines. That is a SHARP looking combo on that car.

In general I like the recall wheels - I didn't for a long time but they have grown on me - probably for their rarity and the story surrouding them as much as anything. I'm getting soft in my old age so things I used to dislike don't bother me so much these days. Over the years I've grown fond of Corvairs and Gremlins, as well as brocoli and Cesear Salads. That being stated - rap music, lima beans, and socialism have no chance of ever falling into that category...

Actually.... I've considered the recall wheels a couple times. They're just a little too much $$$ or I'd probably buy a set.

I liked the Gremlins. They started off design with a nice idea of a long hood, which blended into a nicely raked windshield, to a very nice interior. The nice design continued through the interior, but as they neared the rear wheel openning they realized that they didn't have enough money to design a trunk area to compliment the front of the car, so they just chopped it off just after the rear wheels and thus we have the Gremlin!

Gremlins rock - or is that rot? My mom got a used one back in the late '70's with the Levi's interior, 258 cu. in. 6 cyliner and 3 speed manual trans. It ran and looked good for awhile until the salty roads of the northern Indiana winters started getting to it. Then mom and dad moved to Florida and the humidity, combined with the accumulated salts just ate it all up. It was a piece of junk when they finally had it hauled off.
