Some persons suggest it is an electrical grounding problem, but I don't think so. Just thought I would mention this fact in case anyone else finds their tail lights are dimmer than they would like. My parents had a new '71 Road Runner, so I know what things looked like when factory fresh.
I purchased a used '71 bumper and tail lights for my BBody. I cleaned inside the tail light lenses, painted some reflective silver paint inside, replaced the bulbs. Now the right (passenger) side tail light emits about half the light that the driver's side does. Another owner who has a stash of '71 tail light lenses stated sometimes the older factory lenses turn a lighter color (more pinkish) and sometimes they turn darker (more blackish). Weird.
