Hello guys, I am through the resto of my steering column and for the coupling body at the bottom I was wondering if I need a steering coupling clamp?

I can't remember when I pulled the car apart if there where any clamp on it and can't find a pic when I remove it from the car...

A little help on that would be really appreciate ;)

Nice thanks for your time for those research ACME A12! :)

I have found that pic when I google it, and that one too right below. And when I go on Yearone website or some other manufacturer like DMT I found that clamp that is shown on that pic. I should have post that pic at the first place.
What do you think about that clamp?
That is what I was talking about sorry for the miss-understanding.

Thanks again guys

You're welcome.

It looks like the clamp in your photo is just a different means of securing the cover - as in I don't see any tangs on that cover that would be used to secure it. Use which ever version makes you more comfortable.

Ok thanks for that income. I'll see that once the coupling body will be rebuilt, at that time I'll be able to see if I have to put a clamp or not.

Thanks again :)

Interesting clamp, new to me!

So it means that it didn't exist back in the day when the runner came out from the factory? or other Mopar?

Found that interesting cause this will hold everything in place firmly I guess. Just have to put the extremity in the roll pin then clamp it on top. Seems to be a good product. I'll let you all know if I put it on my bird ;)

Thanks

I've seen that clamp before. I found that when I replaced the coupling body on my car I had trouble getting the tabs on the cover to hold the seal and body together. That is what that clamp is for, to help hold it together.

Well , I put the mod. clamp on my 70 cuda, but it much have falling off, don,t know where it went. I bought a new cover and seal for my 70 challenger, I see no need for the clamp. rr and challenger/cuda same set up.

Old post I know, but the clamp is to hold the cap in place while you bend the tangs over on the top cap of the coupler

ACME A12. Hello. where did you get that print of Fig. 16? Is it from the 1970 Plymouth Factory Service Manual? I ordered one; am waiting for it to come in the mail.

Just snagged it off the internet. Google will provide numerous images such as this.
