I pulled my carpet out of the box today, and TrimParts said to lay out in room temp or above for 24-48 hours to relax the material from the shipping box. So I dropped it on the driveway for 15 minutes and I could have molded it to fit Hoosiers Chevy :lmao: This heat is good for something :yesnod:

Bob:

I was conducting a search on the A12 website for a suitable aftermarket alternative to the 2806070 fan clutch since they're in the stratosphere these days...and came across a link to an old moparts thread. In it I found several old posts of yours where you and John Dallian were "discussing" whether or not a "215" or a "216" fan was correct for your car. What was the end result of your research on this matter...? Just curious...and do you have a 070 fan clutch for your car?

First thanks everyone. Ray no I dont have an 070 clutch I bid on several but they go to high. What I found on the 215 or 18" fan was it is on the hemi b-body. The 216 or 18.5" was on the 440 max air package or hemis in larger cars.

So what are you doing for a fan clutch? Have you looked at the Hayden 2765? Apparently quite a few guys are using this as a substitute...and it's only $42 from Summit Racing...

AZ Desert,
Ray. I bought a Hayden after I got the car so its new, and the fan was replaced with a flexalight and spacer. So I checked my broad cast sheet for the fan # and found a 215 at a swapmeet for 2 bucks, the chevy guy was happy to get rid of it

..I'd like to find a Chevy guy with a 216 for sale for <$5...that would make my entire week...

I found a couple at Carlisle..but you're not going to get any smokin' deals there because the guys know what they have... Saw several that were pretty beat up...and one really decent one that the guy wanted one Ben Franklin for...but I'm still looking for a better deal. These things came on more than just 440-6s so it's not like chasing down an A12 Prestolite, air cleaner, or something like that...they're out there...

You almost made me blow coffee through my nose...
...which was quite funny (& embarrassing) as I am currently on a conference call with our Ohio, Paris, and Singapore offices...and had no good explanation for why I suddenly snorted into the speaker phone... :D

My Christmas list is quite short for the record:
2863216 Fan
2806070 Fan Torque Clutch (since you're hunting one too I won't count on this one... :D...)
Really nice blue kick panels & a-pillar trim. I'll dye some re-pops if I can't find some nice ones...

I had valve covers and a 4391 center carb on the list too until recently, but JJ helped me out with the valve covers and John Dallian (your fan discussion buddy) hooked me up with a carb.

I could also use some "M5 9" stamped H-Wheels - I have four H-Wheels, but only one is date-code correct...but these are the least of my concerns. Bob K recently told me that his buddy is close to perfecting the re-pops which will drive the prices on the originals back down to earth. He thinks a set of five will sell for about $700 which is only slightly more than one really good '69 wheel is trading for currently...

If you can help out with my list I'm sure that I can put you in for a Christmas present upgrade over the proposed siamese-mix as reported yesterday...

Oh yeah - How's this for a promise? Find me a fan clutch and you'll never, ever, ever see a post from me again that contains the words "General" and "Lee" in tandem... We'll even watch Survivor together when you're down here wintering...okay, maybe not; you watch it on the big screen and I'll go to another room...

I looked on mine last night but couldn't find a #. If it's the right one I'll just trade you for one that fits. No big deal to me.......and that is a promise.......

Thanks for the offer Gary. Here's what it looks like:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mopar-42 ... 0006r20077

about 7 1/4" diameter

Unless your car came with the max cooling package it likely (I never say "never" with these silly MoPars...) would not have the 070 fan clutch...

:jester:
It looks like mine, but I'll compare it when I get home.

Does the torque drive clutch really look that different from the thermal from the rear?

I know the front would because of the thermostat spring but you can't see that with the shroud on.

Good question, I have a pic of the back of an 070 :yesnod: Tried to put a larger pic on, I guess the original was small :D
