I have seen some nice RR for sale and the prices can be quite high. What is a good price for a basket case that needs a lot of work?

I paid $7k for mine back in 2006. It needed quite a bit of work. In today's market, id say anything up to that. I know I wouldn't pay over $7k again for a car that needs a total restoration.

I'm not easy but I can be had cheap, and the Mrs says I need alot of work... :basketcase:
I paid $9k for mine in '07. This got me new interior, rebuilt engine, soild body except for the muddy pop riveted 1/4s. I was after a complete, driving car,F8,four speed post car. When I was liooking for this car after the fire, I saw a lot of cars for twice as much needing a ton of work. There are a lot of cars out there, plenty of deals to be had. Bide your time, save your $$ and get the best you can.
Joe White got his new runner a couple months ago, nice solid body for under $8k IIRC.

In '05 I paid 22k for my car. I prefer to buy turnkey cars and that's what this was. It looked like it has a recent paint job and had a good interior. As time went on I did find a lot of quirky mechanical issues but nothing that kept the car off the road or that caused a break down. In fact it has been very reliable. I even drove it 650 miles round trip to Carlisle last year and wouldn't hesitate doing it again. Like Dave said, there are many cars out there that you can get in and go and are at what seem like are good prices.

yeah mine had a few mechinacl "issues", like a door panel clip being used to keep the clutch adjustment rod on, small things like that. But two weeks after I brought it home it was driven 2 1/2 hours one way to The Nats woithout a hicup. I'd drive it anywhere.

Depends,I would stay away from basket cases,if you by a restorable car buy one that is assembled, that way you can take it apart, you know were everything goes, you can categorize the parts etc.I have seen cars in the resto needed range from $3500 to 10 grand.I have also seen drivers,(running and on the road from 16 grand and up,there was a black 69 with 440 and a 4 spd on CL a couple of months ago for 20 thousand, probably with some heckling you could have got it for a little less,it was on the road and being driven.Make sure you look it over so you don't get stuck with a Satellite that someone stuck decals, emblems, and a hood on.

Molars in California are really hot right now. Most Mopar muscle is going in the $20,000 range for a 3-4 with 5 being a complete professional restore.
