Restoring console lights

Have a 1970 with console. The circle lights on either side work, but the plastic has yellowed, I'm thinking it was white when new. Two screws remove the assembly, but does anyone know how to pull away the light socket? I'm guessing you just give it a hard pull but thought I'd ask. Second, anyone ever find something that would make the plastic white and bright again?

the light sockets just pull out.
Classic has the lenses for $7 for a pair...look to the left and they have new assemblies as well.

Thanks for tip about light sockets pulling out. Kinda thought that was how it worked but taking it slow. I'll order those lenses from Classic, can't beat that price. Beautiful RR by the way. . . ! Thanks again.

Just got the console light out and cleaned, looks great! Gonna order those lenses tonight. Only have a short vid of the car, still very rough. Will upload it though. . . !

Well, that's good because I got a project here. Actually, car is in pretty remarkable shape. Here is a question, don't know if you have a console, but here is pic of underside of console door. It has these funky bolt cap things that won't tighten or loosen. The door is totally out of alignment, and I'm thinking if I can take those bolts off, maybe I can adjust it so it fits better. Do you know if these bolt things just pull off?

those nuts are supposed to unscrew like a regular nut. If they are loose than someone over tightened them.

Yeah, they are all loose. I can probably remove them by cutting off with a Dremel maybe so not to destroythe screws underneath. And get new nuts. Course the screws could be stripped not the nuts so time will tell.

Think you will find it is the nut striped and not the stud like Dave said. I have a console in my 69 but not up to putting it in yet.

Dave's suggestion worked great. Looks like the nuts may be ok, but the stud screws are a bit stripped. I rather the nuts were stripped, but there you have it.
What condition is your console in? Other then a crooked door which looks totally messed up, mine is not tooooo bad. Some rust on the chrome, but the wood grain stuff is good. Not sure what to do about the rust, it's like a line in the crack, maybe from ages of drink spills or beach towels, dunno.

The door is totally out of alignment, and I'm thinking if I can take those bolts off, maybe I can adjust it so it fits better.

Trying to align that door is an impossible task. Get it aligned one way and it's out the other.

That's what I'm seeing. Looks like it should be simple, but way above my pay grade apparently.

Visually it looks really straight, and in overall good condition. I'll put a rule on it and check though, cause maybe it's not obvious. Did you say you have a console but waiting to reinstall? Mine is in car still, but does have a thin strip of rust along chrome recessed edge. Not sure how that can be repaired.
