Sounds like there are a lot of us out there that would really love to get hold of some "realistic" data on numbers of specific production types... for example how many 1969 Ivy Green post-cars with 383's; 4-speed; décor package; nothing power and bench seats were built and are still out there... and how many 69 B-5 blue post-cars; with 727; power brakes and steering were built and still out there? There are so many combinations out there with different color and interior combinations and engine combo's plus all the option packages. I have read several articles stating that Chrysler did a really terrible job at maintaining any kind of accurate records. Apparently it has been one of the biggest unsolved mysteries of all time when it comes to these Mopars. When you go online and see how many 68-70 Road Runners are for sale you'd think there must be thousands and thousands still out and about... and many, if not most, are not listed as for sale. I know from the fender tag when and where the car was built and colors and options and that it was a special order car. I was also able to find out the car was originally sold to a dealership in San Diego, CA on October 30, 1968 (same dealership where I purchased my original 69 Road Runner on December 1, 1968); it stayed in San Diego for approximately 10 years, then sold to second owner in Shawnee Oklahoma, then sold to third owner in Boise, Idaho, then forth owner in Wichita Kansas, then finally in May of 2015 I purchased it and it came back home to Southern California where it now resides. I got all this (possibly true) information from the prior owner, who was an "intelligence officer" in the Air Force and had, according to him, the resources to conduct such research. I'd like to think what he told me was accurate, but who knows for certain???!!! The majority of these cars have lived a very mysterious life... a life we'll likely never really know. I'd give anything to know if my original Road Runner is still alive and if so where is it?? I spent ten years trying to find it and finally gave up. I don't do twitter or facebook, so I am at a disadvantage. I email and text and that's about as much social media stuff that I engage in.
