I think Chrysler last made Plymouth cars in 2001. Does anyone know what happened to the Patent or does Chrysler still hold the Patent for the Plymouth name?

Sounds like a "Google" question to me... Let us know what you find out. Might be interesting...

I think you’re correct on the last model year being 2001... if memory serves me correctly, yes I know it’s a stretch, Daimler/Chrysler still owns all rights associated with the Plymouth name. I want to say I saw something about using the name for a possible Cuda revival vs making it a Dodge, but that was squashed.

I would say that is rite on the name being registered that Chrysler still own the name. Copy rights do have maintenance fee's.

Can't find much on Plymouth with a quick search but did learn some executives wanted to name the Barracuda the Panda LOL.

I remember that 3 or 4 years ago they did something, I think with the copyright, stopping the vendors from making anything with the Plymouth name on it.

They paid to keep the Cuda name a few years ago which started a bunch of rumors

I am not a lawyer but I think the rights can run out after a time.

Didn't GM let the time lapse with the Oldsmobile name and Toyota bought it ?
