Oil Change After winter storage

Just wondering if I should start my 440 and let oil warm up be fore I change it after setting all winter. In the past I have just drain , new filter and new oil and then start.

Any thing settled in the pan after setting should drain out. If you want to warm it up put a 100 watt light bulb under their and it will do it for you. Might take a while but it will warm up the oil in the pan.

Russ has a good point, but hot oil flows better than cold oil. That said, I generally change it before starting it after winter storage. Besides, if you're like me, you probably have less that 1000 miles on the oil anyway, so my take is you can't go wrong either way.

When you change your filter, it will take a few extra seconds to fill the new filter before it builds pressure. Either way, I wouldn't think it would be long enough to do any damage.

I guess it is good to live in Fla. We can drive our car's year round. Sort of like living in Ca. Never have to worry about snow or ice covered road's. We don't have salt on our road's. But it is in the air and the rain being surrounded by water on three side's. Central Fl. is not as bad as the cost for rust. Bought a few cars that came from the costal area and they where eat up on the side they parked the car towards the beach.
