Removing original stuff from the car.
I couldn't figure out what the red dots were till I got the nuts off.
Locking types with a piece of plastic going through to the threads.
All four are like that.
Anyone else found these?
Are they common?
69 St. Louis car.

If you look real close at the nuts, you will possibly see a "R" stamped into the flats on the opposite side of the red plastic insert. Typically you will see on the passenger side tie rod sleeve, the nuts with the red insert and on the driver side sleeve clamp nuts a tan or off white insert. On those, you will see "T" stamped into the nut. Not uncommon to find on an original untouched car. Found on all of the different body styles and across a number of years as well.

Good stuff, Richard. Thanks for the info.

All 4 of my original adjusting sleeve nuts had the off white nylon locking pellet and a stamped T on the opposing flat. No red pellet, or stamped R’s. The bolt heads are marked with an A and 3 hash marks. ‘69 LA plant build....Jim

Here's something else.
I have a bunch of original U bolts and nuts from junk yard 8 3/4 pulls years ago.
All of them have a taper on the end of the thread and the nuts have a dot on every other flat.
These are like the ones I had to cut off the RR.

But I bought what was said to be a set of NOS from a known MOPAR authority.
They are flat on the ends and the nuts are different.
Maybe they are a later issue?

I've got some later brake strut rod washers from 70s cars and will be checking them out.
This is the first time I've ever noticed an "insert" from the back side.

The front face of my original pivot shaft nuts also have distinct markings, 2 dots on 1 corner, 1 dot on the other 5. My lower front shock mount nuts have the same markings, but smaller size, 7/16.
