No electricity

I put a new alternator in my 73 today and after I finished I started the car and it ran for about 30 seconds and then died. Now nothing electrical works. Doesn’t turn over, no headlights, no horn, nothing. No smoke, no burning smell.

Problem 1. No electricity, is there a main fuse or a fusible link in the wiring, or something else?

Problem 2. What did I do that caused the problem? There’s only 3 wires on an alternator. I’m not sure what I could have done wrong?

Do you have a wiring diagram? A good tool to have.

Is basically a wire smaller than the rest of the circuit so it will melt if too big a surge
