Need help convincing myself to like my Yellow RR

Hey guys ,I would love to see some pics of other 68 and 69 RRs. When I was 17 my dad bought me a new 68 rr,it was red black inside. When I got the car that I have I was looking for another red one.Couldnt find one.Found this one ,it was what I was looking for, just wasn't red...and I have just found out I can't afford to paint it...that was my plan from the start ..Sometimes I look at it ,and think that a Killer car,and then other times, I'm not so sure.Down in tn where I live ,u don't see any yellow rr ,most yellow car r street rods...I need to see other yellow RRs to ma

When I was 17YO, about a million years ago, I bought a T7 (Brown) Ragtop 69 Roadrunner and painted it Y2 yellow. My Dad and I prepped it and brought it to one of those places who just spray. Not a good picture, sorry but its the only one I got.

Thanks ...Cool car,I like to see the cars in older pics....Nothing better than a drop top !!!! I have some when I 1st got my car in 68 ...I look at them all the time and wonder where did all that time go.lol

Thanks Russ....I Love the Red,I cked with my restorer about changing mine to red,and he just asked me if I had noticed yellow would have to be changed to red.....he politely told me to get use to it ,that I couldn't afford it. lol

I don't know about what the cost would be for other lines of paint. BigBlock is using shop line base coat clear coat. Might ask him what the cost of it is. I used Matrix and boy it is up their. A friend just shot his Old's Cutlass 69 and he told me about 1000 buck for the paint and primer. That dose not include the painter and labor to tape it off.

My restorer told me in order for hem to paint it,the body,engine compartment ,door jams,and trunk, show quality would be 14K.....Yuk

Most of that is labor for the people doing the blocking and sanding

Their is a lot of time spent in body filling and blocking the car like Quickbird say's. Even with brand new sheet metal found that it needed attention with high and low spot's. Their is a lot of car their. Think I would talk to a few more paint shop's. I don't know how big of area you live in to say their are that many choices in your area. If you have a garage like some of us do you could do some of the work your self and get it ready to be painted. I found this guy on the net. MY FRIEND PETE. SWRNC. His video's where a lot of help to me. From the body work to prepping it for paint. Just some thought's to save you money. Wish you luck with the project. Russ.

When my Dad and I prepped my car back in 1974 it wasn't so hard. The car was sitting in a garage for three years and was in nice shape, the owner had died. The basketball coach new his wife and arranged the sale. All we really did was pull the trim off and wet sand it. The interior was black so we just left it alone. We didn't use any filler, but I wasn't going for a show car.

yeah,Ken my restorer is a real purist on these old cars,and hes not wanting me to change the color..He told most likely I would devalue the car,the price of the paint job.He told me if I can't just learn to like it,wait till one comes along and try to trade for it.

I can give you some reasons to keep it yellow and not red if nether are correct.
If yellow is the original color , it's a no brainier though.

Yes sir...Thats what the fender tag says is Yellow, thats why my restorer doesn't want to paint it ,but he said if u just have to have red,and u don't mind devaluing the car he would paint it

You notice this car I have was red but no finder tag or paper work to confirm it is original other than when restoring it every where behind nut's and bolts and hard to change the color with a respray. Even when sanding down through layer's to get to bare metal it showed it was red. But between all the rust and looking at faded red color I changed it to B5 blue. Was sick and tired of the color and rust. I like red don't get me wrong. The car is not number's matching except for the body was. But now 3/4 of the car with new sheet metal and all. So what is the car worth I can't say but I am not selling it any way's. This is a personal Thing that only you can decide on. Wish you luck and It is your car. What ever makes you happy.

Agree. You never get out what you put in. It's a labor of love. If you're doing it to flip and make money, good luck wit dat.

Color is a very subjective thing.
I think most new cars are limited in color options.
I've noticed an increase in "earth tones" on the road.
I've often wondered if people could walk into a car dealership, pick the car they wanted and get that car in any color what would most people chose?
Snap their fingers as it were.
What would we see more of if people actually had unlimited choices in new cars.
Would it be black, white, grey, or pink?
I also think color selection would vary depending on what the vehicle type was.

So, you like resale red on all your cars?
Or only on a Road Runner?
Do you only want it for sentimental reasons or do you really like it?
Or both?
I fancy myself a sentimental person.
You don't see any yellow Road Runners?
That could be a good thing then.
Gives yours something different, no?
I like Y3 and have an A body that color.
But I don't think I would want it on my pickup truck.
My girl friend has red lips and red nails and a red Corvette and a red Camero.

original problem was yellow faded more than some of the other colors. I agree with above, paint it whatever you like, it is your car. if the original is not your first choice you will always have that feeling of slight dissatisfaction whenever your look at it
