30+ yr old technology...cams have come a LONG, LONG WAY since that was introduced... It's kinda like upgrading to larger diameter drum brakes when disc brake options are all over the place... If you're gonna upgrade, then upgrade... :cents:

In addition to newer, more advanced cam designs being available, there have been some quality issues associated with purple shafts over the years. Search here, search other websites, and make an informed decision. I have one out in the shop that I bought about 10 years ago that is only good for usage as a door stop. Incorrectly machined. I keep it around to remind me of the pain and agony it caused me so that I NEVER go down that path again. They were really good back when Racer Brown was making them...but that was a LONG time ago...

My Roadrunner was born with a B5 blue exterior, black vinyl top, blue interior, 383, auto trans, PS, manual drum brakes. It still has original motor and trans, but I believe the third member has been changed out, because it has 2.94(?) gears. My plan is to "restomod" it. It will be mostly stock other than the drive train, wheels, and tires. I have my short block finished, its a '72 400 with a 440 Source stroker kit (451) with a MP 509 cam. The trans is finished, but haven't bought a convertor yet. I have a third member with 3.91 gears ready to install. I plan on changing the exterior color (sorry 69hemibeep) to black. I haven't made up my mine on the interior color yet, leave it blue or change to black? I'm going to mini-tub it, so it will have some meat in the wheel wells. I haven't really made my mine up on the wheels yet, but might be Centerlines (convo pros) or Bogarts ($$$). Thanks for looking, I'll post more pics later. I'm having a little problem with pic sizes.

Bogarts rock. They used to be local to me and now they are local to Hemibeep. They build the highest quality wheel I have ever seen. Thank god your going that route, you scared me when you said "restomod", that means 24 inch wheels usually. Here is a picture of my Swinger with Bogarts on it.

I have more pics to post. I just have to wait till Monday at work to post them, because I know how to down size on the computer at work. The "restomod" term, I thought was a combination of restore/modify. I'm not "restoring" my car back to stock, but I am redoing it with some "modifications". No big deal on the meaning, maybe just what part of the country you're in. Oh yea, the wife dosen't come out in the new garage either. Its noisy and smelly.

Ok its Monday morning, back to work, but first I got some pics to show. I had to put patch panels in the front floor pan, but the rest of the floor looked ok.

I got the passenger side 1/4 removed and did some repair to the wheel housing and taillight area. I had to repair these areas so I could have something to weld the new 1/4 panels too.
