Yeah - a line worker just like it says in Harold's post right above yours. This is extremely common. Can't believe you guys haven't seen this before. No different than grease pencil markings on a valve cover or a "Paint OK" stamp on the fender or core support. Just standard assembly line markings.

Here's a pic of the underside of Bambi's trunk lid showing the markings for the spare. G70 15 Red Line. No idea what the SKX/SHY/SHX/SKY (or whatever the hell it is) markings are for...It's been seen on other A12's also but no one seems to know what it was for...

Yes Ray, you're right, it is extremely common...seen hundreds of 'em. When I say "script" I mean that particular writing style. All I'm saying is that the writing in the OP's pic does not resemble any Lynch Road writing style that I've documented. That's why I asked what plant it was built at. That does not mean that it is not original Lynch Rd assembly line scribbling....I'm sure there was more than one guy doing this at the plant, and they all had their own way of doing it. I've even seen an A12 with "F 70" under the deck lid! Since they all started as 383 cars it's not surprising.

My next posting and pics should be my dual horns they look original to me, even though Alex doesn't think so I don't see how they couldn't be the wiring looks original.

On a Road Runner, the extra horn wire was just left disconnected from the factory. BTW, legend has it that 68's and very early '69's had black horns.

I couldn't remember seeing those markings on my car so I went and checked and it doesn't have them. So, was it painted over at some point in time, or was this a car that never had those marks? The mystery with no positive answer.

I mentioned this when Tom first bought the car. Look at the mounting position for each bracket, and notice the discoloration from where the original bracket was? That makes me think the original horn broke and all they could find was a dual horn from a pick-up or something.

Most cars had 2 horns a high and a low and that's why there is an extra wire hanging loose on the roadrunners. Those horns have been changed as the mounting fasteners are the wrong type also. Some one may have taken the beep beep horn or it died.

Here's a pic I took of an A12 survivor a few years back. Notice the long mounting bracket. I have heard that two different length brackets were used. Maybe someone else can chime in on that? Notice also the extra unused wire bundled up around the wires coming from the relay.

Interesting, and makes perfect sense! The OP's pic clearly shows a long bracket once lived there, and it also looks like a 26" radiator. The second pic I posted was of a 22" radiator survivor car. The camera angle is weird, but strangely it is a long bracket? Of course, the horn could have beed swapped anytime in the car's life. Or, maybe the assy line ran out of the short ones and slapped on what they had...Worth taking note of in the future!

All the engine wiring harnesses came with the two plug system as they used them in all B-Body cars Dodge/Plymouth just that RR got there horn and the other cars got the High pitch and Low pitch black horns with dual horns.

The short bracket was used from 70 thru 75. All 69's should have the long bracket. :cents:
