Manual Steering Column

Ok gentlemen, may be one of you may have the answer to my problem. I am trying to secure my steering column to my dash. I have the correct bracket but is seems that I need to adjust and move the steering column a half inch toward the driver to secure the bracket to the dash. However, the column seems to be in the correct location. What am I doing wrong (see pictures). Any hints?

Is the shaft from a power steering car,,if so that's your problem. That's all i can think of.

Is this column original to the car? Or are you changing something?

Only other thing is the gear box,,power and manual need different shafts.
