just for the site pic whores....

Well if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black... :basketcase:

I do have a bone to pick however... Why are your beautiful, long sought after Cragars on the car while it is being worked/welded on???!!! :toetap:

My suggestion: Take the good tires & wheels off while it is being worked on and throw on a set of may-pops. Standard body shop protocol. It's a lot easier than trying to fix a spot left on the wheel by welding slag or having to rub them out after they have 10 layers of primer & paint on them. And don't tell me he has covers - those things seldom cover EVERYTHING. :cents:

wheels have already been swapped out.I drove around the neighborhood over the weekend and borrowed some hose reels..... :basketcase:
are the rivets for the pin bezels a special type, or your garden varitety type? If so, I can probably reuse some of these......

You should be able to re-use those for sure...just bust out a can of NEVR-DULL on them... :basketcase:
Roger Gibson Restoration has the complete hood pin kit - advertised as the most correct 69 1/2 set available - for $140. Haven't paid close enough attention to the rivets to be able to tell you what to get if you already have the bezels and everything else. Maybe JD will see this thread and comment - he'll know.

I talked to Penstar, and he says the hood is strong enough to use the screws for the pin bezels, but he's sending me rivets as well. can some shoot me a pic of their bezels with rivets? thanks!

:toetap: :toetap: :toetap: funny you should mention that. I am going to use the hood latch and safety catch. I've read too many horror stories about guys with true lift off hood cars forgetting the pins, and relizing this when the hood flys off at speed.. I pictured myself doing this, but with mine being a bolt on, my nice new glass hood flying up and snapping off at the hinges.

You know Dave, this is exactly how my car came to be separated from her original hood. Tem told me that the guy that owned the car before him confessed to taking off twice w/ the hood pins unsecured. Tem felt that the hood was damaged beyond repair (for a quality restoration) and bought a YO replacement. The original then went on ebag where some guy in Germany bought it. About a year after I bought the car I got a PM on the LOH Board from the guy in Germany telling me that he had my hood...although I had zero interest in having it shipped back from Germany. Then as you know I found an original one through Mark (Sparky) at Christmas 2 years ago.

Yep, been there done that. I had a repro glass 6-pack hood on my car for a few years too and one day I pulled the car out in front of my parents house and lit her up not thinking that I just had the hood off and with a big flex fan on the engine. That hood flew about 15 feet up in the air and when I saw this I thought holy shit it's coming down on my new paint so I stayed on it until the hood come down to the street behind me with a whack. It landed perfectly flat on the road and hardly did any damage other than a small spot on the front where the paint spider cracked. That's it. I could not believe it didn't shatter into a thousand pieces. I still have that hood hanging in my storage shed. Funny now to think of this.

the passenger side door latch are had more quialty work by the pop rivet bandits. the metal was all tore up, and they riveted a patch in place. A Saudi Oil Baron had donated some new sheet metal for this area. Thanks Chris!
