My dad was the original owner of this 383. He bought it shortly after high school. Our family drove it for a few years until someone wrecked into it.
I remember as a kid, this car was sitting next to our house for years, just rusting away. My mom wanted to sell it, but my dad was insistent on hanging on to it.
They finally restored it about 25 years ago.
I still have the original wheels. Everything else is also original on it.
My dad put it in a ditch about 10 years ago, and they never messed with getting it fixed.
He passed away last year and left it to me.
I got the body work done and new paint. New wheels and tires too.
There is still a lot of work to be done.
That's why I joined this group.
Hopefully, I'll find some good threads, and get some good opinions on how to fully restore this car without my wife killing me about the cost!
Cheers!

Welcome! My dad bought a 1969 new and passed away in 2017. He left his to me and I’ve spent the past two years working to restore it. It feels like a black hole moneywise but I love working on it. I’ve done all work myself and I’m currently rebuilding the engine after spinning some rod bearings. Good luck!

Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, It is really cool that it was your dads car. There is a lot of knowledge here, don't hesitate to ask. Dan

Money is replaceable.
Memories and people are not. These cars are repositories of memories.
I was fortunate to marry a friend who understands sentiment.
Sure, she is very frugal as well and says things about money, but she understands.
It's all about balance.

Welcome. Glad you are the new owner and sorry for your loss. What do you need to know about the car that needs attention. Lots of good guys here that have brought or kept these runners going and looking good. Just put a brawler carb on mine and replaced the 906 heads with 440 source aluminum heads and trying to get the 383 dialed back in. Going to change the jets in the brawler to what I had in the Quadra jet Holley. Think this is what it needs. Good luck and post more pics. Russ.
