Apparently, the pistons are not the only things that are seized on my 383. I have been scratching my head over the harmonic balancer all afternoon. How exactly is the balancer supposed to come off in an ideal situation? After the pulley bolts are removed and the main 1-1/4 bolt is removed, is the balancer not simply "sitting" on the crankshaft? I believe the process is that one arranges it such that the crank cannot turn (not a problem in my case...) and then a tool that bolts onto the balancer is turned in order to remove it. Is this not the way this should work? If it is, then I am baffled as to why mine is still stuck. I am afraid of applying so much pressure in trying to remove it that I would damage the balancer. Does PB blaster have a role here or am I missing something? :brickwall:
