Good question. I bent mine right where the bend is on float arm. Basically i tried to straighten it out some.

I bent mine at one of the factory bends... you need to bend it DOWN about 1/4" to get that float higher in the tank

Hmm. Maybe that explains it...... I did notice however that the float was almost touching the bar on which the filter attaches to. There wasn't much room to bend it down.
