Front suspension rebuild

Hey guys, time to rebuild the front suspension under my 68, any tips or suggestions are appreciated, I've got an original 69 service manual, has anyone used the kits that PST offer ?

Got all Moog parts from NAPA but I don't think they carry the top line Moog anymore.

Not sure if you have all of the front end tools needed to rebuild your suspension, but if you don't here is a reasonably priced kit that makes it fairly easy. I have been using mine for about 20 years and have pretty much buggered up the threaded rod for the upper control arm bushings. Other than that, it is still as good as new.

I bought a kit from PST for my 68. I was not real happy with it. I cleaned my K frame, done some welding on it painted it and started putting it together. I did not care for the tie rod ends and some of the rubber cups on them. I went and bought Moog. I did put the bushings on the strut rods. I done this several years ago. I had the K frame laying on a wood cart since that. I put it on my work bench to clean it to get ready to use. I was rebuilding my friends 66 Ply. and wanted to show him My K frame. Just by luck I looked at the strut rod bushings and one of them had split in three places. I got all Moog bushings ( rubber) and put them in. I am not trying to tell you what to use just what happened in my case. Good luck from Big Mo.

I had the same issue. I ordered the kit from Mancini but it's been out of stock since roughly May. I searched yourtube and found ways to remove some of the bushings (not the upper arm bushings). I looked at Mancini's kit and made my own for the upper arm bushings. started with a pipe with 1 3/4 ID to fit over the bushings. Pulled the threaded shaft out of a scissors car jack for the center shaft that goes through the pipe and bushing. Then made the end pieces out of scrape metal I had. Worked better than expected.

Everyone tells me to upgrade. I'm going to try and stick with the original suspension. Purchased my Roadrunner new in August of 1972. I said the front suspension worked fine back then. Had it up over 140 mph.

there is one little thing I would like to tell you about. On the strut rods where the bushings go there is a metal sleeve that slides over the rod and goes against the washer. Then the rubber bushing slides over it front is same then torque to I think 50lb. Be sure to check that metal sleeve because they are well known to rust and I could not find any used that were very good. Hope this helps you and good luck.

I know i've worked on the right side today. Doing upper and lower ball joints tomorrow. Any pointers?
