okay, progress update. shock tower braces are in and engine compartment has been completely emptied and started getting the panels ready for paint

IMG_1751.jpgIMG_1752.jpg

next step has been fenders as well. found a lot of rust on the passengers side at the bottom of the rear brace

IMG_1745.jpgIMG_1745.jpgIMG_1746.jpgIMG_1747.jpgIMG_1748.jpgIMG_1749.jpgIMG_1750.jpgIMG_1751.jpgIMG_1752.jpgIMG_1753.jpgIMG_1754.jpgIMG_1755.jpg

still need to degrease the firewall and get it ready but getting closer to paint time.
during this week also got the transmission reattached to the engine and installed the new hydraulic throwout bearing

If the weather cooperates I hope to have painting done by end of nextweek.
To date I have used up 4 rolls of welding wire, two tanks of welding gas and umpteen flapwheels and grinding disks on this stuff. just a progress report

It is going to be tight. still need to rewire the car. with a little help from some friends I think we will make it. There are a couple jobs that will just have to wait until after the nats. I was hoping to get the dana in for one thing but just don't think it will happen. Plus the wife is getting grumpy about my living in the shop so need to make some amends there!

Your VIN# is stamped on your old core support...did you save it? Maybe you could graft that section back into the new core support...

I do still have it. I did use some of it to make the repair pieces for the fender brace. Where is it stamped on it?

either on top as you're looking down, or towards the radiator.

I did not mess with that part. Will check tomorrow and see if it is there. Not sure if current core support is original

does any one know where I could find some new splash shields that are set between the framerail and the inner fender panel in the back of the engine compartment. they are a flexible material with some strange wire clips to hold them in.

not sure, but I made new ones for my truck (just the rubber parts) with rubber shipping mats I get from work. same look, and black color as the originals.
I'd say check Classic,Year One,R/T Specialties and the like of you want originals.

if I could take the next four days off and just spend them on the car I might make it. It's that darn job stuff getting in the way, also that job stuff for the friends helping me. we still have fenders to hang on new inner fender sheet metal which will probably take a day to get right plus all the wiring to finish. all that rust repair a couple months ago just ate up too much time. I will however be at the nats. just driving the truck instead.
