Why did Chrysler engineers shift the old classic engines a bit to the right?

j m o due to the torque of the engine to keep control of steering i.e torque steer like a f.w.d car

to make room for steering shaft

I am confused. Left and right is determined by sitting in the driver seat. The drivetrain is off center to the right to compensate for the steering column as stated above.

usually and most that do this for a living is driver is left when you explain a repair or instructed in a manual.

OK. I am standing in front of the car looking at the engine. To my left is the passenger seat. That is the side the engine is shifted to. So according to VRD, the engine is actually shifted to the right. I have been told it's for torque, wheel hop, and steering column room. All good reasons but my Chevy, Ford and Olds are centered. Chrysler is usually ahead of the game.
