To Black Canyon City for the Vets day show and grabbed some hardware 2nd judged and peoples choice. Kind of funny, after getting second a group of guys came over and said to me I got screwed it should have been 1st but it is what it is the judges were desert car king guys  and they picked a 67 mustang, nice car but on the way home it was on the side of the road with its drive shaft on the ground. I did honk at him. Karma for those that were concerned I guess  Waiting on a pic for the peoples choice.

Now that's not nice Bob! Maybe he should go the guys that gave him the prize for another shaft! Besides, at least the people know who had the better car!!

Congrats, Sponge Bob!

Definitely sounds like TOW got screwed. Did you remember to mention to the judges that she has an A12 fender...

I have to agree with the boys that it was impolite for you to just drive by and honk. You should have stopped, tossed them a roll of duct tape and a can of WD40, and then honked as you sped away with the sweet sound of Hemi resonators hanging in the air... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks. He had help, a 53 ford pickup with a small Chevy in it, I didn't want to catch any kind of infection from that. Speaking of which, there was also a Dodge truck and of all things an A/C Cobra kit with small Chevy's in them :puke: :puke: :puke:

some of these shows just love fords and chevys and give a mopar second just to piss him off :acme:
Sometimes it's just who you know. I went to a show in NJ years ago when my car was a fresh rotisserie resto. I got beat in 68-70 B-body Plymouth Original by a purple 383 70RR that drove in. It had an aluminum radiator!

Don't get me started. I've been beaten by 2 P.T. Crusiers, a pedal car, and a tractor! I'm sure you had a good time with it! I've seen what kind of Resto work those guys do. It ain't pretty. The best car doesn't always win ( that's for sure!)

A Cobra with a Chevy engine is an abomination! There is only one engine for that car and it's an FE big block. I have had plenty of similar experiences. There is one show I used to attend that had a bunch of street rod guys and a muscle car never had a chance. Only '40 Fords or some similar car got trophies.

I had my Cobra at a local show a while back and the judges were guys from a Studebaker club. They actually walked around with score sheets like they were real judges. They spent some where between 10 and 20 seconds looking at my car and walked on. There were some nice cars at the show but my car could compete with any of them. I really didn't need another trophy but I would have liked a little respect.

I have to say my Roadrunner has always done well at shows but Mopars are not common most of the time. I never quite understood that because there seems to be quite a few Mopar guys across the river in Jersey but I never run into very many of them.

Jack, I knew that one would set you back in your chair. There are a bunch of kits around here and most run an FE in them, a couple with small blocks but at least they are Ford. 64 Dodge PU, 53 Ford PU and an A/C Cobra with chevys

I will walk by any car that doesn't have the correct maker engine in it.

Bob,

You are spot on. Here is a picture of how I think a Cobra engine bay is supposed to look. I feel the same about street rods. I think I'm in the minority but I get really sick of seeing these beautiful vintage Fords and all of them, almost without exception, is sporting a Brand X small block. It reminds me of teenagers. They claim their individuality but they all dress, talk and look alike.

I can just picture the broken down "1st" place Mustang on the side of the road whilst the real winner calmly rumbles by, tooting the ever iconic "meep meep" horn.......absolutely PRICELESS!

On the flip side of all this, I recall feeling guilty being issued 1st trophys for various cars over the years when there was clearly a car (or two) that was superior to mine.... BUT, it really sux when it goes the other way..... Unles it's a marque-specific show with educated judges, I lost interest in trophys long ago.

Yes, it's really all about the show, the friends, cruizin' the car, and enjoying the hobby!

I just check "do not judge" anymore anyway.... Of course, there's nothing to "judge" at the moment....

Not really, taking a break for a while... When the time - and the car - is right, I'm sure I'll jump on it. Besides, there's a current shortage of B5 Hemi cars at the moment!
