Deck lid strips ?

Used to fix the busted tape on 8 tracks with tin foil and scotch tape. Always had to mount them in the glove box surrounded in foam so they didn't keep jumping tracks. A FM converter and a cassette adapter was riding in style back then.

Didn't the double strips that goes from front to back get nicknamed skunk strips. Maybe that is why you see the idea on Chevy and Fords, because the idea really stinks.
