Dating your tires...as in how old!

I know our tires no matter the brand or size etc. have alot of numbers on them. Are there any series of numbers that could indicate their mfg.date hence how old perhaps. I have the BFG redlines (coker) on the 70 RR 235-70-15 and they look pretty clean along with a redline spare 225-70-15. All wear looks the same. Wish i could get this tire in a 245-70-15.

Just took a picture of the sidewalls where the DOT # is and these BFG"s redlines last 4 numbers indicate they were made the 46th week of 2012...they don't look it but i'm sure down here in Tucson the heat will age them some more. I might go tire shopping soon. Oh yeah the number is....B DOT YM1L1CL4612

Tires do brake down after being made. We are considering that if it is over four year's old then you should replace them. Have had radials that looked good and showed good tread. But came apart during driving. Maybe a DOT suggestion on this matter.

There is a 4 digit number just after the DOT. The first 2 are the week and the last 2 are the year. Example shown here was made the 49th week of 2013

d o t numbers are 4 digits the first to are the week made and the last 2 are the year and read like [3419] witch means the 34 week of 2019

d o t rule 5 years. and 4/32 of tread on the front and 2/32 on rear min.

i believe that is a different number than d o t. most are just the number's in a circle no letters.

They have all the info you need. They recommend 6 to 10 years for replacing tires. Most tire shops will not touch tires that are 10 years or older.
