Very true, but I don't think that every 426 or 440+6 is tied to silver spoons; plenty of working stiffs like us bought those cars when they were new and there are a couple of us here who were somehow lucky enough to recently manage to get wide valve covers (but covered in cat piss) and extra carbs (but in the trunk) - however the respective starting points for each are pretty down to earth (what else can you call them when they're loaded with "patina"? )...and Big John bought his A12 long before they climbed into the stratosphere price-wise. Anyway, my humble point is there are no silver spoons here...and for what's it's worth I'd gladly buy back all of my previous 383 cars if that were somehow possible because I enjoyed the HELL out of them. :cheers:

please forgive me if I offended any of our multi-carbed wide valve cover owners here :worship: I was referring to when the cars were new, and I'm sure none of you guys are old enough to have been original owners. :crazy:

Well, I got my license to drive in December of 1969, so if I had a silver spoon available, I could have done it. I sure had my eyes on them, but daddy had other ideas!

NO APOLOGY REQUIRED! We're just shooting the breeze here - and I don't think anyone on this board has skin THAT thin...

I'm only old enough to have bought a Volare Road Runner new...and Dad's help would have been required BIG TIME...

Steve, you're making me jealous as you get so close to being done with the engine rebuild. I'm impressed. What clutch are you going to be using?

Thanks brother. It's been a long process, and will be far longer with the paint and body.

The clutch is a McCleod set up. I bought it last year from Brewer's Performance here in Ohio.

from what I saw at Heath, it shouldn't take too much for paint and body .Personally, I;m not that much in a hurry to get fresh paint on mine, no matter how bad I want the F8. It's nice not having to worry about chips and scratches when they're already there. :drive:

Yeah, you're right. That is the nice thing about my car. I'm never scared to drive it. As for today, I was supposed to get her back today. Unfortunately they ran out of time. So, I hope to have her tomorrow.

I wish more people had silver spoons back then. Then the cars wouldn't be so damned expensive today.
