For those of you that did your own body work and paint, how did you paint the cowl without ending up with zebra stripes underneath the grate? The drain holes are too small to stuff anything inside there to catch the overspray. What did you guys do?

I build guitars and have to keep the insides from getting stained and painted I use this method. Get a large balloon or two or three and put the deflated balloon through the grille openings then inflate with a compressor...do this slowly, although when they explode its kind of fun. When the area immediately below is full by the inflated balloons paint as you need. When done just burst the balloon and wash the debris out.
