I most definitely enjoy assembling assorted power plants. However just as an example, Indy Cylinder Head does a 500 inch balanced short block cheaper than you can build one with the machine work.

It no doubt helps that they are set up to blueprint and assemble them and the volume purchase of parts probably helps to save tons of $!

Not trying to take away from the pleasure of “rolling your own”. Just going with the bucks.

I'm only getting the heads done and that's about $275. My buddy had extra springs and stuff.
