Body colored bumpers?

Hi all, While I sit here with nothing to do as the body guy takes his sweet time, I'm seriously considering fiberglass bumpers for my 69 Roadrunner. Car color will be T5 Bronze Fire with a flat black Six Pack hood and I'm having a hard time finding pictures of 68/69 Roadrunners with body color bumpers. If they won't look right I may paint them a pewter/grey color (I don't want them to look like I'm trying to make them chrome). Does anyone have pictures of these cars (any color would help) with body colored bumpers?

Painted bumpers is a big no no with me. You might as well paint the engine compartment black while your at it. :cents: Sorry, but these are 2 of my biggest pet peeves with any Mopar.

Mine are flat black fiberglass. Look pretty good. Then again I'm kind of going for the anti bling and more sinister look.

they sell crome paint that looks like crome its not cheap but it would look real good

couldn't agree more. that being said I still say, make your car to make you happy. That's what I'm doing with mine.

mine are 'glass. painted some shade of light bluish-silver something. I am color blind so don't take my word for it, take a look, about 3/4's the way down the page,

I wanted to loose weight on the car and like the offset color. I understand what you say about the "chrome" look. I think body color would be fine also. remember, cars are an extension of your personality and likes. to me, do what you want.

Thanks guys, In the end I'm going to do what makes me happy with the car. I do have a slight tick about doing irreversible things to the car since it is going to be done nice and want any possible future owner to be able to perform a "Restoration" on it without hindrances of what I have done. That being said, I'm still going to make it mine. And that means removing some weight by putting fiberglass bumpers on it.

Tubbs, After looking at the pic's of your car, I think I'm going that route with the bumpers. I like the matte silver/grey, it's a nice contrast which after seeing some of these pic's is what these cars need. To me the body color bumpers don't look right. I had to see some to determine that though.

Got an update (or at least an excuse) on the car. The body guy has an airplane in that he is painting that the owner keeps changing his mind on what he wants done. I did inform him "I haven't changed anything on what I want done, so while your fly boy is making up his mind you can finish my car. LOL" I really hope to bring it home next month.

Oh, the car won't be "done" in a month, it will just finally be in primer, paint underneath and jams, and a roller so I can finish the body work at home. He is doing all the welding and finishing of installing the panels. I'm going to fill, block sand, and prep for paint "top side" and interior. Then it will go (ugh) back to him in the spring for finish paint.
