Any ideas on theses vent window brackets?

These stabilize the bottom of the vent window track apparently.
But I can't see why they have to be made like they are except to allow up and down variance of the track during instillation.
Doubt they are adjustable in any way.
Nut on the bottom simply tightens to a flat platform.
Why the long shaft with the hex top except turn it?
Access?
I'm in the reassembly process after repairing them. Spot welds broken on both.

And that rusty stud in the first picture was only on the passenger's side.
That's the real mystery.

Is that the bolt for adjustment of the wing window frame. If it is then helps adjust the wing window from striking the A pillar on the car frame.

Well, I really can't see how it adjusts anything.
But after I posted Ifigured how the assembly prevents movement in two plains.
In other words keeps the channel from moving forward aft and side to side
But that loop around the long stud would allow the frame to find its correct position up and down.
That's not fixed.
Other than being rusted in place when I had to take it apart.
Did you not have to deal with this thing on your doors?
I was able to save my driver's but bought a new right side.

I was just working on them and figured out the mystery screw only on the passenger side track.
The lower spot weld almost missed the track.
There is what appears to.be a reference hole between the welds to locate the bracket on the track to weld. ( both sides)
When they almost missed the lower spot weld they put a machine screw in the hole. (Weak)
3 attach point not just 2.

Bought both vent window frames for my 69 Runner. The bolts in the door are assemble through the black caps inside of door and behind the inner door panel. Had to neural out the holes so my window frame would adjust properly on the new frames. Don't figure. After market stuff. But they get good money for them.

After market stuff. not cheap either. The one bolt is Alen head bolt where the small black cap like for a Bick pin. Use my original glass used rvt silicone to set it in.

Maybe I should have bought some new vent assemblies.
But the flawed chrome is a badge of honor.
Right?
The aftermarket (you know who) doors are not perfect either.
That inner bolt hole doesn't line up enough with the fixed nut on mine.
I've already painted the door and will have to use a rotary file very carefully in the hole.

Yes I also bought doors and some placements of things are off some. My door hinge pillar bolts where off and had metric threads. Had to enlarge the hinge holes so the door would line up. Gees what we go through to put these cars back together. Feel your pain brother.

I just found out the vent window assembly is too wide to drop in the window channel.
No wait!
Make that the channel is too narrow for the vent window assembly.
I'm pretty sure I can spread the opening.
But it sure would have been better to find it before I painted the door.
Much easier.

Apply Yellow tape to the door opening. May have to double it. I know it will close the gap also but with help in not scratching up the paint. I used the 2-inch-wide tape. Got it from my paint store. It is not cheap but better than what we get at the Hardware stores. They don't sell tape for working on vehicles. Good luck with the project.
