Oh boy, another oil war.
"Best" is subjective, but for what little it's worth, I run Rotella T5 10W30 with a bottle of ZDDP Plus.
Oil filter? Anything but Fram. Usually SuperTech or Purolator.

My grandfather left it to me and we never had the chance to work on it together so I didn't know much. I really just didn't know where to start with it, she runs great but I wanted to get in there and get an oil change and all of that before driving her anywhere. I searched the internet and see all different answers so I just thought I'd ask here. Appreciate it!

you should run a 10 w 40 with zink in it . it is $$$ but it will help with cam shaft ware . i use brad pen 20 w 50 green oil it has the zink in it but be careful there is 2 different kinds witch one dose not have the zink. oil filter engine masters did test and i would recommend wix racing done this way and garage kept could go 2 years in between changes should be ran up to temp if not driven once a mouth. j m o

T4 Rotella 10W40. With Zink additive. Wix filter also. This is what my engine builder suggested to use. The T4 Rotella is one of the few that still has zinc in it.

I run the VR1 in 10w-30. A 20w-50 will take a bit to pump when cold and take more power to pump.

bigger issue for new owner is to know about running an ethanol additive or the real trouble will brew quickly.

Nice 69. Welcome to the site. Like a lot of guys have already said, I would run Rotella T4 and a WIX or NAPA Gold filter. Avoid people telling you to run synthetic, you need the Zinc. SO tell us more about your car, what options? Manual? Air? Pictures are nice also.

It's too bad you didn't get to work with him, he probably could have taught you a lot. I hope you got the oil changed and are enjoying the car and the memories. If you need any help stop back. There are a lot of great people here that will be happy to help in any way.
