69 roadrunner woe's rear tire size

Hey Guy's what is the largest tire that I can fit under my car on the rear. I measured the inside of the finder well and can't get a 12 inch wooden ruler to fit so thinking that all I will be able to put in their is 10 inch width tire. Also do I need an off set rim and how much. Thought about putting mini tub's in but that is a lot of work. Also have to move a lot of thing's so I don't think that is worth it. To raise the car for 28 inch tall tire we use to put the springs on top of the rear end. So any Idea's would help want to make the car look bad. Thank you for all your help you guy's have a lot of information. I have forgotten a lot and looking for some one who is doing the same thing. See Ya.

10 inch is usually the max for a normal wheel. 4.5 in backspace

Hey Quikbird thank you for reply. My friend and I had a duster wanted to put more rubber on the ground. We put the rear spring's on top of the rear end. We got 12 inch under their put the tire out side the finder I remember that it slung a lot of dirt on the out side of the car. Well on the other hand I guest that you know what I read about mine tub's they require a lot of work and a lot of stuff has to be moved. Well appreciate your insight on these matter's. When she goes into the barn for rebuild lot's of sheet metal work to do so if no wore out will contemplate this move. Thank you Guy.

I have Mickey Thompson Drag Radials on my 69 RR
295/65R15 on 8" wide rims with 4 1/2" back spacing
30.1" tall
11.8" wide

Thank you for your info. I think that maybe 10 inch wide tire will be enough to give the old girl that bad look that I am looking for. All you guy's are grate. Just got the motor running smothely. Had problem's with Idel but now is doing better. Russ69Runner.

Hey Goon thank you for your info. Got the motor running and got it to ideal down. Just ordered my door hinge pillar post and inner cowl part's lot's of rust on driver's side front finder and parts I ordered. Going to start their. Think have to replace rocker also show's some rust on cowl top and maybe bottom. Well thank's again.

Cooper Cobra Radial G/T P235/60R14 their widest 14" RWL
BF Goodrich Radial T/A P245/60R14 their widest 14" RWL

There maybe wider 14" tires out there, but 245 is the widest I know about.

I have found that you need the rite width rim for the tire or it will wear in the middle it also effects the side wall's. If I put a 10 inch wide tire on a rim the rim should be 10 inch wide also. Will make the tire last a lot longer and have better grip on the road. That is what I was told when first started street dragging.

It will go on an 8. You need to know how wide a rim and what offset will center in the wheel well and how wide of tire will fit. I don't know but it has been discussed in the past

Yea that is true. An 8 would not be to small still think a 10 inch wide rim would be better if it will fit. I for get where I saw the article think it might have been on Mickey Thompson tire and rim's.

It was but only because I hadn't put the new overflow bottle on it . but all that fixed now , needed some oil dry didn't I ? lol
