The original fender tag on my 68 was stolen in Washington at my brothers house after the purchase but before delivery to me.
I received the after market one from MMC Detroit.
This forum helped me rebuild this car.
Does this look right? In looking at the old posts, I only saw two fender tags in...
The silicone gaskets ($54) did not fit correctly. I tried them three time and the leaks just got worse. I tried some rubber gaskets ($34) but they also did not fit right.
I've tried to reshape the original valve covers multiple times but after 46 years of over tightening and abuse I give up.
I...
I used the silicone ones. they were slightly over sized on the passenger side and it took three times to get them to line up.
I would not recommend these. The cork ones that were first on leaked very little. Before I got these to fit, oil all over the side of my engine, exhaust manifold and...
Mr. 4 speed,
You are correct. Rebuilt the carb, (OK, took it to Dave, Monkeys in Manteca,) fuel rod was bent causing fuel to over flow and jets were sticking in open. No leak and starts much stronger.
I looked and read over the two gaskets you sent attachments of and others. I decided on the Silicone w/fiberglass because the Moroso specs stated "Steel core gaskets may not fit valve covers with a gasket retaining lip." I have the original covers and believe they have the gasket retaining lip...
Russ, Thanks for getting back to me.
It appears to be leaking behind the #8 cylinder just about the corner of the of the cover this time. It's not enough to notice the oil level drop but it still bug's me. I recently put it up on stands when I noticed it. I've had the covers off twice before and...
I've found another leak from my "original "valve covers. Tired of trying to get these to seal. Sorry for the long link, interested in these fabricated covers but not quite sure they will fit with HP exhaust manifolds. Eyeing it, it looks like they might touch.
Your help is always appreciated...
I'm tired of each time I go to fire up my RR, (if I didn't run it yesterday,)
it needs to crank over and over to get fuel to the carb.
What are the thoughts of installing an Electric Fuel Pump? Brand? location?
Or do I have another issue? Edelbrock 650.
I have a 68. On a 68 it's a Black rectangle on the hood.
I found the measurements and correct paint code online - Authentic Restoration (Product?) (But I did have to dig)
Good Luck!
Thanks for the pic. I have a standing bird just wasn't sure where it went.
I'll figure out a spot for the runner probably over. There's not enough room on the outside of the existing ROAD RUNNER insignia.
Ready for decals.
Talked to a vendor and he said it doesn't matter if I put on color or black and white for my 68.
I would have thought that it was one or the other and probably color.
What did they come with originally?
I have a 68' 383, Car is running OK, I don't have as much get up as I'd expect.
I'm working on a new carburetor, I have an edelbrock 650 and my brother is sending me a Holly.
It has been mentioned a couple of times that my distributor looks like I got it from swap meet (previous owner).
As...
The gauge shows up about half way. There's two much stuff in the way and I can't get the heat gun to a good spot on the block. It shows about 180 degree on the thermostat housing but when I have it running in the garage of course it goes up. Just not comfortable..
Thanks for the reply's. I might be jumping the gun because the aluminum looks real good.
I have been told by a member that's it's not the correct radiator for the car. Just want to be sure.
the one I have is 22" wide, 7 blade @ about 17"dia. #789075 and 38086. No Shroud w/Crysler mark on top...
I'm thinking of replacing my radiator with an aluminum one w/electric fans.
I was just in WA and my brother has a mid sixties El Camino with a 402, aluminum radiator with two fans that looks real good and keeps his car at an even temp.
Any leads or suggestions?
